Todd Viney created two records tonight. He is the first father to call out his son's name at the draft and he was the only manager to record an error in his selections.

He called the number of a draftee incorrectly and the AFL guys called error and he reread it. Not a big deal though.

I guess an easy mistake to make when the drafts have such long reference numbers. I was thinking to myself earlier i wonder how many mistakes are made.

Thanks redleg

Yes did we really want Cook!

Surprised no-one picked up Dale Roberts

Our propaganda plan seems to have worked. Can pick him up cheap as a rookie?

That's what should happen. He has been lying low and in fact hiding behind Dayle Garlett.

talking of young Garlett, I like a bit of arrogance in a player, but boy does this kid know how to lay it on

so sad for someone of obvious (football) talent and so sad a lot of the negativity will rub off on his 'brothers'

I am trying to shake off one of the worst colds I have ever had. Been over a week already.

I might try inhaling some steamed banana vapours and see if that helps. Nothing else has.

A day without sun is like night......

You might well ask what does the scene below have to do with this thread?

Anything to do with the title of the film?

-4 ........but who's counting

next big event

November 28, 2pm - Out of Contract Listed Players Nomination deadline, International Players Nomination deadline, Players Not Registered / Played Three Years deadline, NSW Scholarship and International Scholarship Players deadline.

can't wait......beside myself already

Every training report I see (from Demonlanders) has Davey as the worst performed. Struggling has been the most flattering description of his efforts. I really feel that the time is near for him to make a decision on his future. I would hate to see him go out as an embarrassment.

Blah blah blah....

3316 and counting.....

I seriously doubt he will be embarrassed Redleg.

And neither would I.

He will be happy to play out the final year of a contract worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I would happily play out the year at Casey for $300 000+.

Would you retire and forgo the money?

He would obviously get most of the money, it is about clearing a spot for a player who may be able to contribute.

I alluded to this elsewhere

But only if he wants to go

If he does not and thinks he can get back to injury free there may still be a chance somewhere in the AFL beyond 2013.

In his view "where there is life there is hope"

I am trying to post on the thread but can't find it. Does anyone know where it is?

I am trying to post on the thread but can't find it. Does anyone know where it is?

I asked the same question this morning Redleg.

Waiting for nasher to get back to me.

Nearly choked on my morning Coffee

It's barely a footy thread. If it weren't so popular, I'd say it should be put in the Off-Topic section of the forum.

But if it did go there, it would die a slow and horrible death because nobody ever visits Off-Topic.

seems it slipped on a banana peel and skidded right off the forums !!!!!!

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

With their season all over bar the shouting the Demons head back on the road for the third week in a row as they return to Adelaide to take on the Crows. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
