Just watching the rhythmic gymnastics and this austrian bird did her routine with a red ball.

I couldn't help myself. I yelled out "just kick the ball. stop poncing around and just kick the bloody thing"

I felt better after that (even though she ignored my pleas)

Given the eclectic mix of this site thought I,d throw in a snippet

Bloke in town who have had many conversations with about many matters but not footy

saw me in my car today and noticed my Demons scarf (I know tragic isnt it??)

Says "follow the dees do you" yes

"I played 7 games with em" says Barry Hodges

"Billy Barrott was taken off me in myonly memorable game" Didnt have the physiology capacity to make it at league level but did move to Port lincoln Same colours as DEES and made the team of the century there.

Is now in Beechworth and gauranteed some more refined discussions on the higher order intellectual matters such as wether

moloney should be traded or spencer perservered with

OR maybe Ill just continue the existing friendship and discuss matters usely contained on this thread such as race results olympics etc?

Am looking at getting a new car

You can save a LOT of money by getting a Demon-strator :o

That would demon strate your fiscal resourcefulness.

Whilst I am fiscally flexible I also fantasise fecklessly and end up in a frenzied ferment trying to fittingly finalise

Think I would have preferred Chip out next week.

Could be a two week injury the quad.

Ah yes. Like Ward, Patton and Greene soreness. Will guarantee minimum 4 more GWS changes next week and several first gamers.

Much like a game of chess in preparation.

Sheedy said a while back "Melbourne won't want to dance with us."

Got it this week. 8 changes for GWS and several second tier players. Sheedy says, "anyone who challenges these selections is a disgrace". Anyone out will miss 2 weeks, as both games are winnable.

Love the experimentation Sheeds.

Warnock is really playing well today .

I see some interesting times ahead for us. Who do we trade, delist, go after, draft? Probably more interesting than this season.

Unfortunately Redleg the off season seems to be the most interesting every year in recent years.

At least we don't lose any games.

You missed one very interesting subject.

"What happens with the Tanking inquiry"?

"What happens with the Tanking inquiry"?

Hopefully it just goes away and soon.

I just think that if the AFL takes the tanking inquiry to a full hearing, they are going to create the biggest firestorm to engulf the code in decades. We will not take it lying down and that will mean other clubs will be brought into it and that will lead to forensic examinations of countless games and officials. The adverse publicity would be a disaster for the game.

There is no tanking...Vlad says so

I won't argue with the boss, he would know.

No let's have it out once & for all. Otherwise Tanking will always fester.

The AFL made the rules...

This season drags on and we just can't escape the negativity about the club. Brad Miller retires and says MFC were good to him, but the Tigers were really great. 2 seasons with the Tiges and he says they were the great club. Jurrah heads off to spend time with his family in Adelaide and the media suggest we have seen his last game. If true another exciting Melbourne player cut down way too early. Then on the Footy Show, Barrett says the tanking investigation is widening and a result could come late next week and it might not be good. Robbo on 360 says more of the same and says the Hun tomorrow will have a 3 page spread on the issue. I can safely assume it will not be helpful to us.

Most of what I hear and see about the club is negative.

Here is something to increase the negativity Redleg.

Why has a certain high placed executive at the MFC not had his contract extended?

Could it be that they are waiting on the out come of the inquiry?

He is one of the few left from that period.

A directive to tank can only come from a couple of places

The Coach and almost all of the FD from that time are gone.

Only two left near to the top that I can see

I have a gut feel that said person is going to get it in the neck.

I remember last pre season being a time of great change and hope. A new coach was being talked up as the next super coach. A high profile (the highest at the time) player defecting from the Lions and Dockers to come to the promised land. New resources being pumped into the club so that player development was assured. Fantastic facilities being better than previous premiers/grand finalist. A list of potentialled high draft picks. Previous coaches lamenting opportunities saying finals football was a given. A club profit used on front ending contracts. One of the highest sponsorship in the league

And...... all i got was, do i need to re live this year. its too depresing to reflect

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
