Good for you. Expecting pleasant positive posts from you from here on in ;)

It will improve, don't be too dis-heartened.

Cannot promise that mate I have not seen the last three games but there does not seem much to be positive about.

My 17 month old Grand Daughter is fantastic, ran to me at the airport this morning.

How is that?

Just read the story on Leigh Williams on the MFC web site.

Just brings back the reality that in the end it is only a game.

Hope the kid gets back before the end of 2012

Back in Oz and on the Gold Coast for a couple of days. Great to be back.

Just watched the last quarter of the Tigers v Swans game last week to get a footy fix. It showed again what we lack and that is pace on and off the ball and the skill and talent to deliver it accurately.

It amazes me when people say we recruited all these talented skinny quick players and should have gone for solid types. I actually think we have done the opposite. Aside from T$ who obviously can't be named on this thread and maybe Blease, who are all these quick skinny skilled players we have recruited?

From our first game this year we have been shown up in pace and skill. It seems to be our downfall in every game. There is no doubt we can get contested ball and also no doubt that we then turn it over.

This is the reason I feel so strongly that we can turn it around next year if we finish last or near last, get JV for a 2nd rounder and use the three 1st round picks to get talented quick skillful players with a hunger to win. Add that to our best side and there is a huge difference to our chances. We also need to get games into our younger players.

For the record I don't see guys like Trengove, Gysberts, Tapscott as quick especially when Fitzpatrick can easily out sprint them. We need pace around the packs to break the lines or we will never improve.

The Gold Coast?

You're in the wrong place. We're playing Sydney today. We don't even have a game on the Gold Coast this year!

Well that explains why I am the only person here at Metricon Stadium.

Save me a seat-I'm running late.

Thanks Macca tried it but did not work however I have found a convertled way round it at present. but is painful.Bit like our team

Went to watch Uni Blues on saturday.

Had a great afternoon ( remember when all tha games were Saturday afternoon ) they won the game.

Then came saturday night, not a surprise really but I was surprised the game was over at the 15 minute mark of the first quarter.

Yesterday I was washing my car before attending a friends birthday party in the afternoon.

And I did something I have never done in my 52 years of suppoting the Dees.

I peeled off my "demons Sticker"

I am too brittle to take the derision associated with being a dees supporter now.

It did not help of course that a large number of them were Tiger fans.

Just shows how low have I sunk?

And I have every confidence worse is to come before 2012 is over.

Guys can we please stop creating threads that are slight variations on existing threads.

It has got the ridiculous stage.

Nasher can close some of them please

Why do they go to all of the trouble and expense of preparing that lovely Skrota Stadium and then have GWS play us at Manuka Oval in the middle of the world's largest above-ground cemetery? A three hour drive to the deep freeze as opposed to 20 minute drive to the relatively mild environs of Homebush Bay.

Because it is GWS and everything they want they get

Just saw a replay of the Saints game and we were ok for 90% of the game. We were a goal down with about 5 minutes to play. How is that a pathetic side? We have played ok in parts of other games as well and then agreed, pathetically in others. There is some light at the end of the tunnel and it will probably have more to do with our younger players and the ones we draft this year, than our older ones.

Flying to Bali on Friday.......Will watch the boys on TV at the sports bars........(Ess and Coll) Plenty of pools or beachs to drown myself in after the games......or just drown myself with Bin Tangs......

Enjoy your holiday. Don't think you will enjoy watching the game though.

Agree, further progress we see from the likes of Blease is important. I would like to see Strauss, Gysberts play. They've already misse virtually half a season once again. Need continuity of footy, we are currently seeing it with Blease.

New trend on Demonland besides a thousand new threads each week, is for suggestions we get whoever is in the news and says anything sensible on football. We already have get Rendell, Mooney and Ling threads among others.

Agree Redleg.

Enjoyed my football at the weekend.

Love it

No matter which way I look at our on field performance I come down to the same 4 points, all of which the good sides have and we are probably rated the worst in the league, hence our ladder position:

1. Good midfield.

2. Small Forwards.

3. Disposal.

4. Pace.

None of it comes from our current coach.

Had a great day at the footy today

Just got home Uni Blacks got up again by 6 goals ( beat the last team today ) still undefeated.

Picked up by a couple of mates so no need to drive.

Don't think the cork will come out of single malt tonight, already a few too many MB's

I had forgotten what it feels like going to a game expecting to win.

Bloody marvilous!

Now the pain starts I guess but at least I can turn off the Tele if it gets too bad.

Need to stay nice from here on, 7.00 AM GD minding duty tomorrow morning.

Go Dees

  • NON-MFC: Round 10

The Sir Doug Nicholls Round kicks off in Darwin with a Top 4 clash between the Suns and the Hawks. On Friday night the Swans will be seeking to rebound from a challenging start to the season, while the Blues have the Top 8 in their sights after their sluggish start. Saturdays matches kick off with a blockbuster between the Collingwood and Kuwarna with the Magpies looking to maintain their strong form and the Crows aiming to make a statement on the road. The Power face a difficult task to revive their season against a resilient Cats side looking to make amends for their narrow loss last week. The Giants aim to reinforce their top-eight status, while the Dockers will be looking to break the travel hoodoo. The sole Saturday game is a critical matchup for both teams, as the Bulldogs strive to cemet their spot in the top six and the Bombers desperately want break into the 8. Sundays start with a bottom 3 clash between the Tigers and Kangaroos with both teams wanting to avoid the being in wooden spoon contention. The Round concludes with the Eagles still searching for their first win of the season, while the Saints look to keep their finals hopes alive with a crucial away victory. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?
