Song for the evening: Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Tears For Fears.

Oh crap, another minute passed.

Edited by Redleg

Is there a similar countdown site that I can consult regarding the time to go before the 2012 draft?

I think Redleg is auditioning for it right now.

I think that coutdown clock is RS.....1 day 29 hours to go when I looked at it! Hopefully it's the one GWS are working to?

Ha. I think you're right. The time of the draft at 19:00 is right... Unusual.

edit: No it's right. As Jack Jack has posted. Different units.

Edited by H_T

The clock shows the countdown in different units. They're not added together.

You're right. Fixed edit.

Can't believe no one has commented on Demtriou's disgusting comment at a GWS presser. He said what GWS did with Phil $ was fantastic as he is a great Recruiting Manager and the AFL loves keeping families together. Ox and Leach played it on their SEN show today and both were ropeable. Ox basically said that he was promoting cheating and Leach said it was a disgusting thing to say in that all the other clubs have paid for GWS to start up and here he was endorsing their rule breaking and the stabbing of the other clubs in the back. Both were furious that Demtriou was suggetsing that his salary was always going into their salary cap, when it only happened when they were caught. Ox also said that when MFC tried to keep T$ like Carlton did with 3rd party payments to Judd, the AFL stopped it in about 2 seconds, showing that they wanted him gone to GWS and stuff MFC.

Why are you surprised at Demetriou's comments?

Surely, it's logical he would say those things given he and the AFL were in on the whole scheme from the start?

I am surprised that he said it and that no one on here has raised it.

I am surprised that he said it and that no one on here has raised it.

I did hear some of his comment in a small news grab yesterday Redleg, but I had not heard all of it.

Makes my blood boil reading your post.

I am surprised that he said it and that no one on here has raised it.

and not only that, he also said "It's within the rules, it's in the salary cap, it's legitimate. We are a family code and it's good to keep fathers and sons together I think"

How the eff is giving HWFUA a job in Sydney and his father a job in Melbourne keeping father and son together - sheesh wot a crock!.....you are a real [censored] Andrew

How appropriate to bring this up on a no B$ thread! I am pretty sure that this was a deliberate and calculated statement by Dimwit, not off-the-cuff. He is simply parodying the style of Sheedy to try and give the AFL's club (read GWS) some sort of relevance, profile and build some artificial passion. He can jam it! Hating the AFL and GWS is a waste of energy and we can all see through this pathetic spin. I do get offended by liars though, but that's for a T$ thread not a no B$ thread.

'Family code'?

When someone reaches a certain level of importance and self-importance and arrogance they start to revel in their own hubris, and to be so unreflective as to say this is quite startling.

I think he has only a short time left before the commission has to move past him.

What an effing ridiculous thing to say in the name of PR in the northern states. Just ridiculous.

Demetriou thanks the system that is in place and highlights GWS' genius work he exposes with getting Phil Scully. Yet Ken Wood declared it illegal. FMD.

Wonder what Ken Wood may think of these comments.

Quality parents don't piggy back or cash in on the opportunities presented to their son.

This is the killer for me.

It's a difficult situation, but to land yourself a job in which you are getting paid ten times more than you should be on the back of your sons talent illustrates pathetic character.

It tells me all I need to know about that family.

Someone called SEN during Ox's show, and went on about how much of a quality kid Scully is, and how his family has had to deal with a lot, and they are taking up an opportunity too good to refuse etc.

I'm tired of hearing how much of a quality kid he apparently is.

Quality kids don't stand up and tell straight out lies, whether it's for self interest or not.

Quality kids stand by the decisions they make, and the ensuing consequences.

Quality kids don't allow their mates to continue to back and support them, while knowing the truth is the complete opposite.

Quality parents don't instruct their kids to lie.

Quality parents don't piggy back or cash in on the opportunities presented to their son.

What the Scully's do is entirely up to them, but the "quality" tag that continues to be mentioned with Scully is inaccurate.

No he can stay here, because the post is actually about a pathetic CEO of the AFL, not the kid who left us.

He is actually getting 20 times more than the $5000.00 he got from the Swans this year. Also, he has now got the payment indexed by 5% per year and a fixed 6 year contract. He must be the greatest recruiter of all time. A 6 year indexed contract starting at $100000.00 per year. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He probably thinks his boss is an idiot.

Round 12 kicks off with the Brisbane hosting Essendon at the Gabba as the Lions aim to solidify their top-two position against an injury-hit Bombers side seeking to maintain momentum after a win over Richmond. On Friday night it's a blockbuster at the G as the Magpies look to extend their top of the table winning streak while the Hawks strive to bounce back from a couple of recent defeats and stay in contention for the Top 4. On Saturday the Suns, buoyed by 3 wins on the trot, face the Dockers in a clash crucial for both teams' aspirations this season. The Suns want to solidify their Top 4 standing whilst the Dockers will be desperate to break into the 8.

  • PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The media has performed a complete reversal in its coverage of the Melbourne Football Club over the past month and a half. Having endured intense criticism from all quarters in the press, which continually identified new avenues for scrutiny of every aspect, both on and off the field, and prematurely speculated about the departures of coaches, players, officials, and various employees from a club that lost its first five matches and appeared out of finals contention, the narrative has suddenly shifted to one of unbridled optimism.  The Demons have won five of their last six matches, positioning themselves just one game (and a considerable amount of percentage) outside the top eight at the halfway mark of the season. They still trail the primary contenders and remain far from assured of a finals berth.

  • REPORT: Sydney

A few weeks ago, I visited a fellow Melbourne Football Club supporter in hospital, and our conversation inevitably shifted from his health diagnosis to the well-being of our football team. Like him, Melbourne had faced challenges in recent months, but an intervention - in his case, surgery, and in the team's case, a change in game style - had brought about much improvement.  The team's professionals had altered its game style from a pedestrian and slow-moving approach, which yielded an average of merely 60 points for five winless games, to a faster and more direct style. This shift led to three consecutive wins and a strong competitive effort in the fourth game, albeit with a tired finish against Hawthorn, a strong premiership contender.  As we discussed our team's recent health improvement, I shared my observations on the changes within the team, including the refreshed style, the introduction of new young talent, such as rising stars Caleb Windsor, Harvey Langford, and Xavier Lindsay, and the rebranding of Kozzy Pickett from a small forward to a midfield machine who can still get among the goals. I also highlighted the dominance of captain Max Gawn in the ruck and the resurgence in form in a big way of midfield superstars Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.
