Sorry about that, Chief. 'Obtuse' is becoming my middle name?

Commodore = @Redleg(refer my earlier (obtuse) posts)

I was proposing he dreamt his encounter with S.Freud.

S.Freud wrote on the interpretation of dreams.

I was proposing that, in wading through this thread, you would have earned a doctorate in the advanced psychology you suggested was needed to do so.

I thus threw it to you to interpret Redleg's dream.

See, that wasn't so hard!😉

Was it?😮

I was actually thinking that’s what it might mean. Except that I wasn’t. 🤥
As for interpreting @Redleg’s dream, if his dreams are even remotely like his comments in this thread then that’d be a solid No Thanks!

I have been ripping up the floor of my tiled back room since the thread started, looking for the long lost  key to winning the flag. I stopped after the GF and have started retiling the floor. Who needs the “key” anymore?

Now back to the footy.

What are the predictions for new players to play their first MFC game this year?

I think we can treat Dunstan as a given.

I will start it off with Laurie.

Just because I appear to be alive and well, doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not mentally scarred beyond reparation. 🤪

I’m only up to page 33 and the bananas discussion has only just taken off. But I tell you what, Tim… this thread should be made compulsory reading for students of advanced psychiatry. Seriously.

I am pleased to see your studies are continuing WCW. However, to save you some time, I have a suggestion.

Instead of reading the entire 1000 + pages, simply focus on my modest offerings. They are scholarly, socially inclusive and tasteful. I am certain you will be a different person for the experience.

I liked BBOs admission theat his offerings weren "modest".

"and he has much to be modest about" springs to mind.

Ahhh Biffen returns! How wonderful!

I simply shall say, in all modesty, " That a great man is always willing to be little".

Quite likely all of them courtesy of Omicron.

Remember it's not the size but the quality.

Didn’t know where to post this, figured here’s as good as anywhere else.
Are we all watching Ash Barty’s AO final atm? Her opponent, American Danielle Collins, has not only an Australian connection, but an MFC connection. Her coach-turned-boyfriend, Tom Couch (son of Geelong great, Paul Couch) played three games for Melbourne in, I think, 2012.
Yeah nah, ignore that. Seems there’s confusion as to who her boyfriend is. Some think it’s Tom Couch, some think it’s an American model. Anyways, as you were.

On the OFF topic above.

I know little of womens tennis but I did follow it the last couple of years due to the edifying and uplifting influence of gambling.

Needless to say ,I had a Multi  Motza going in to Danielle to win her match but despite her position as red hot favouriote she lost to a short, powerful Russian and looked overweight during the process. I dubbed her the Collins Class Submarinbe after that effort but now i'm aware she was carrying a severe illness so she shall be forgiven.

As shall that wimpy little Australian swimmer that broke every sprint swimming record in the year leading up to the Olympics before he decided to choke and cost me a small fortune in another multi.

Forgive and forget I always say.Or forgive at the very least.

What a despicable fellow you are Biffen!

Your weakness for sins of the flesh is well documented and your predilection for substance abuse is infamous.

Now you add gaming! You choose to ignore the wonderful spirit of jingoism that surrounds the tennis in favour of your venal needs!

Disgraceful!

Bah to you skinny! A batsman who allows himself to be run out when the batting averages trophy is on the line has no credibility.

Red, I am deeply wounded.

After all my years of valuable and profound intellectual contributions to this thread you still misrepresent my tastes in vino.

I hereby declare and  caste aside all doubts, Chateau Cardboard has no place in The Manor's fine collection of plonk.

( excepting of course, those occasions when The Manor's budget is a tad strained)

I can honestly attest that Uncle knows his wine, his women and one or two songs😂

Indeed picket! An astute observer like yourself might also have guessed that one of those two was a little ditty  from the early 80's by the oddly apparelled Devo .

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
