Lets say it is easily our best chance in the last 15 years.

So, it’s a tad quiet in here. How many goals will Big Mac kick next season?

More than Jesse Hogan? (who?)

Tigers supporting friend gave me this summer read as inspiration for what could happen for the Dees in 2019. A good read actually, particularly the chapters on the early years of VFA and VFL, the money pouring into Victoria's coffers from the gold rush, the tribalism of the suburbs/classes. Melbourne fans like to think that the early years of footy centered around the MFC. The reality is that we weren't a powerhouse club early on, in fact it was Sth Melb and Collingwood that drove the break away to form the VFL. And Tom Wills was the captain of Richmond.

Do we count Freo Shocker players?

We don’t care much for these teams but this is a tad freaky.

Fair enough as I say Happy New Year to all and especially to to Sir Michael Pallin for x%%#@ sake for services to Monty Python or who knows what, while some such as I soldier on with little recognition! Such is life.

Banana smoothie with white Creme de cacao and banana liquor. If you haven’t tried it, you haven’t lived.

Sounds like a banana pina colada.

Minus the coconut. You’ve talked me into it, I’m off to the green grocer and bottleshop. 9B00BB69719425D29452884C8B48BBC21D275B48

Quite so Red!

Anyway  Red,  since you are of the lawyerly fraternity, and I am currently a little cash strapped, have we any grounds to sue Ethan?

Obviously we will claim the moral high ground but it's just the lucre we want. Maybe we could organise a class action - Ethan has no doubt offended many.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
