Does 'Redleg' mean 'Prince' where you come from?  I'm sure we can work that in there somewhere.

Too busy following the Eurovision finals Maple. Calliope from Macadonia is on at the moment, she has me totally mesmerised and she has a reasonable voice as well. Our girl is due up next after the Lithuanian pretty boy.

Careful, Earl. Conchita might get jealous.

Hey uncle bitters, i was just thinking of those pygmy camels of yours and realised you haven't mentioned them for yonks. you haven't eaten all of them have you?

What a nasty fellow you can be dc - I suppose it comes from living in Borewood. The lads were quite well but became distressed at the above reference. You know very well they are highly sensitive about particular ancestral associations. They are going out to stomp some wildlife as a form of anger management.

To other matters.

I am wondering how bookings for Earl Hood's overseas rip off   tour are proceeding? I've misplaced the itinerary BTW and just wondering if the stopover in Pyongyang was still on offer. Actually I have some concerns about Earl Hood. First the hirstute  Conchita mysteriously reappears while his main man Hudson appears to have fallen out of favour. Now it seems he is prepared to rough it on an overseas jaunt with some of the coarsest of Demonland's  hoi polloi. I fear the failed guava paste enterprise has impacted poorly on what lurks beneath that sensitive hipster bun.

Finally I hold grave concerns for our immoderater from Hopping Dicks. It has been some time since he has graced us with his dulcet tones. In fact it was about the time that I initiated an investigation for malfeasance at the supposedly family run Hopping Dicks BDSM club.

yes, it seems earl is keen to relive his adolescent wanderlust and regain some of his fading youth. will it go ahead? as they say in the land of the pharaohs "never say nefer"

which gets us back to this afternoon. dees by 15. you know it makes sense.

Some of us are forced to live in shadows that you who bask in the sun of technologically advanced civilisation can know little of, Uncle Bitters. It took me 23.5 minutes earlier today to post a brief and uncontroversial message on another thread and I only seem to have chanced by some glitch in misfortune upon the opportunity to deposit these words here now.

Telstra ... 'nuff said. Though I will go on anyway. What passes for an internet in these parts is under normal conditions a joke but for some time now it's been bedevilled (certainly not bedemoned) by some rolling outage thing. The NBN Co (although they've branded themselves nbn co in some sort of – what? – demotic gesture) in their infinite wisdom had Telstra install a fixed wireless broadband tower hereabouts not so long ago. Its reach ends at the bridge over Hopping Dicks Creek, some 500 metres short of our humble cottage. nbn co point out that their remit is to implement government policy, so it's hardly surprising that Mr Harbourside Mansion's haves/have nots understanding of the world should be played out metonymically in the various wakes and eddies of his time in charge of communications.

We are now undergoing the indignity of applying for a satellite connection in the hope of some sort of regularity, but the contract is so thoroughly hedged by conditions about access and speeds that I fear we are only entering one of those English country estate mazes.

In the meantime I will continue to lapse into inevitable and probably prolonged silences. Most here may entirely approve of that.

At least we have bananas.

You risking life and limb to leave the warm embrace of Borewood dc?

It's a shame the the districts of Romsey do not have the same internet connection issues that you experience Dr Dickhopper. It would be a blessing to all here.

yes uncle bitters, i will fight my way past the hipsters of the inner suburbs and the machetes of the apex gang and make it to the 'g' in time for the first ball-up

You bringing any bluerinsers along dc or will they be recuperating from an arduous Saturday night?

I'll be there too but incognito. If either Biffen or Moonie see me they hang about like groupies. Such is the price of fame I suppose.

You really haven't missed much Dr.

Earl and Hemingway are planning a trip to Spain to find a suitable replacement for Conchita.

Bitters is applying to Romsey council for the title Marquis de Romsey.

Moonshadow is abondoning his Marxist philosophy in the pursuit of social prestige and now sits in the members.Mercifully .

Maple is now teaching bogus French and selling fake signed Celine albums .

DC has the Zika virus due to his new Samba lessons but refuses to disclose it.

Red and Blue still hooked on Zanax.

Personally , mushroom season has me flat out working.

Wow, there really is a Hopping Dicks Creek. All this while I thought it was just some whimsy on the part  of our learned Sire.

So you're just down the road from the Boonies then ?

NBN Notorious Bloody Network       Telstra, bringing you yesterday's technology today !!

yes bb, and you will notice no doubt that hdc is right next to limpinwood, which just goes to show what happens with excessive hopping (though i haven't noticed it being a problem in burwood and surrounds - touch wood - npi)

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
