Yes this is a part of the season we can be involved in, the off season, as we don't ever seem to be involved in that part that has the finals.

Mr Leg you are now in a new year a little optimism please!

Well tomorrow morning is day 1 of the best time of the year for a Dees supporter.

The pre season is upon us.

What champions will we trade in?

What Future GF winning Champions will we draft in?

Who will be our major sponsor for 2016?

Will the members be our big problem again in 2016?

These and other intriguing questions will be answered over the next 10 weeks.

God I am excited!

Wow OD. You are going off the scale! New blood pressure medication working I hope??

But I'm with you on this being the best time of year for us for over a decade now.

Take care and don't take too many of those little blue pills at once. Think of Mrs OD (hope that's an OK subject) - she might want the 'off' season to be 'on' for quite a while yet.

but it makes good sense

That's how it was first developed DC - as a treatment for hypertension. But a notable 'side effect' in the initial trials led to it being investigated for erecrile dysfunction. From then on it rocketed away, so to speak.

Well here we are girls and boys welcome to the bright MFC future!

bjDee Mrs OD is fine do not concern yourself although she does barrack for the Pies.

No just reporting a fact Mr Leg

This morning I had banana, blue berries and strawberries.

I Did neglect to mention I had Greek yoghurt on top.

Redleg, at what point do we start the draft countdown?

Now it is time.

2016 started today.

DOE in their inestimable wisdom decided to order some burning back up near romsey today in 37c heat

now there is a bush fire and some people are being evacuated

just hope bbo and the lads are safe from this

another great decision by the doe in their desk bound central bureaucratic sites and dark suits

You are both wrong. BBO was spit roasting one of the lads yesterday and things got out of control. In his drunken Shiraz stupor he forgot to slaughter the poor beast before shoving the rotisserie up its clacker and throwing it on the roaring fire. Of course, the beast panicked and ran off into the local forest with its coat ablaze. The rest, as they say, is history.

Sounds more plausible to me than this fuel reduction burn gone wrong story.

that's definitely got ring of rationality to it, moonie

Headline from tomorrow's Romsey Reporter:

"Alpaca's clacker cracker sees local bush wackers knackered".

I wonder if one of the lads has been named Petracca? That would work nicely.

odd spot

just listening on radio to a report on the state of the bushfires. reporter name was alicia burns.

Typical media, half lies half made up on the spot.

Peter Rau, State response controller

She said she was "angry" it escaped the controlled burn-off.

"Very angry, yes. Very angry. It's been going since Wednesday or Thursday last week, it took off on Saturday again.

"[The] CFA had to come and put it out and this [Tuesday] morning it just flared up again...it was just too late. And the wind was just horrendous."

True Red. Only problem I see with such a cunning plan is that the ones with poor disposal usually have good work ethic, and the ones (one?) with bad work ethic have good disposal.

We might need to watch a few more episodes of Blackadder to come up with a more cunning plan. Something that "Is as cunning as a fox what used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University but has moved on and is now working for the U.N. at the High Commission of International Cunning Planning".

So cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel?

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
