    Absolute Shyte day at the club, I have had enough. Can't we talk about bananas for a change? By the way the cluster of banana trees next door to my beach shack down on the Surf Coast is coming along nicely. The old guy owner has no idea who much they are worth. Could be a big harvest coming up. Of course I have offered to manage the whole process for him. I can make better use of the proceeds.

    Just doing some catching up in a more friendly thread after today's debacle.

    Beg to differ on the northern aspect. Rather than the Doncaster, the northern rampart which helps keep out us drunken hoons from Borewood is fronted by The Blackburn, my new local.

    After moving from the vicinity of the Knox Tavern beyond the Far East of Borewood, I can say I am happy having moved to the new country of Bok Hill. I recently (4 mths ago?) ventured back to the Burvale for a night with some old friends to watch a pretty good cover band. The only trouble I had was with the hotel staff who insisted on speaking Ingrish and offering to take credit cards, not just 'cash only'.

    BJ do you mean Box Hill? And was the cover band still playing the Dobbie Brothers?

    yep, just checked, the blackie is 1 km closer from my joint than the doncaster

    but.....it's more north east than north (it is north of east burwood but that doesn't count)

    some nice spots in box hill. have a monster-in-law in box hill north and a son in box hill south

    Sorry your lordship. The word "Box" was replaced by "Bok" in the suburb name after a plebiscite held in the municipality in the last decade of the previous century.

    Apparently it reflected the actual pronunciation and indeed favourite vegetable of the population of the day rather than its old wasp-ish heritage.

    And the band played some very decent classics from the Angels, Oils, OZ Crawl, Sunny Boys etc.

    Sounds like a pincer movement is being set up DC! Don't let the grandmother wave her wand / broomstick / warty nose or whatever and cast a spell over the grandson so that the mother is more favoured than the father.

    Geez, that sounds like a line out of the Kung Fu series with Grasshopper as the young David Carradine.

    DC not sure I want to know about the monster! Where abouts in BoxHill South is your son? Which street? I remember most of them as I used to sought mail at the Box Hill Post Office pre Christmas when I was very young on school holidays.

    This may come as s shock I grew up in that humble working class suburb before I later was informed that I was related to a long lost member of the British aristocracy and became the towering figure I am today.

    beaver st earl, backing on to the golf course and creek.......these days they just sort the mail.....saves a lot of trouble than seeking it

    That's now an archery range.

    The ground I used to play on in Ashburton (actually Jordanville Tech) was turned into a housing estate. Those people don't realise what a Field of Dreams they parked their fat arses on.

    That would be correct. The Goji berry stand at the Fremantle Markets has been replaced with Kiwiberries.

    The guy selling them said he uses the over ripened ones to clean his beard and man bun.

    Goji berries are so mainstream.

    I did buy a pack, they were ok. I walked past a homeless man and gave him some. He said he would have preferred a cheeseburger.

    Funny you should say that. One Saturday evening while rehydrating in the dressing rooms there was a gigantic Melbourne thunderstorm. After about half an hour you could have floated "Proud Mary" on Sparks Reserve. The water was halfway up the goalposts.

    Sparks was an integral feature of the stormwater drainage system for that area.

    I was always a gentleman on the field.

    Off it was where most of my troubles began.

    Dean Jones brother was the mouthiest shyte sibling of all time.

    I had the satisfaction of hitting 31 off his only over.

      From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

    • CASEY: Gold Coast

      Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

    • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

      The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
