Trengove every day of the week, he has really endeared himself to the club and the supporters, Scuuly has not. Oh and on football ability alone, still Trenners.

Totally agree. Shows amazing leadership, character and courage for a 19yo. Great decision maker and has the ability to execute under extreme pressure. Amazing 360 degree awareness, good finisher. I think Scully too will be elite and as some posters have said we do marvel at his 'gut running' and his ability to accumulate but i think his kicking will always be a blight on him.

Scully is far and away the best young player on our list. No questions.

In 3 to 4 years time he will be dominating the competition like no other.

I chose Trengove who has improved enormously this year on and off the field.

If Scully had not missed so much football at the start of the season my decision may have been different. However, that is not the question asked.

Slightly varying the topic at hand, I see an opportunity just as much as Scully would stay that he would go to GWS also. I say this quite simply that Melbourne has gaping holes in the Centre Half Forward to full forward slot as well as potentially getting a rip snorting ruckman working tandem style with the Russian- perhaps a Jolly return- it would be like a Kiss Reunion or a John Farnham- im back from the grave tour!!. Trengove has been a proven player so far, have seen signs from Scully but not the whole enchillada. Reminds me of the scenario (the player potential per se) around the time when Scott Thompson sooked and went back to Adelaide because he was home sick... Still a gun player but did it bottom out the side- not quite at the time but it did have an impact. However now we have the up comers like Gysberts/ Tappy/ Mckenzie and of course Trengove that can take us to the next level... so stuff him... if he wants or decides to go then so be it. Everyones dispensable at any club. Our clubs been around for over 100 yrs

Stuff what friggin Franky Leach said on SEN Tuesday night where he said he was sick of Melbourne supporters talking about so much Potential, i've been around long enough and have seen many a Melbourne side, remade & rebuilt to say that this is the side that could potentially win us back to back in the next 5 yrs. im seriously looking forward to giving Freo a whoooping this w/end and backing it up with the retribution game against the doggie scratchers the following.....over & out

There is no reason to suggest that Scully will not be better than Trengove. Scully's first 2 games have been great and Scully's last season was better than Trengove's . People are just talking out of disappointment.

When we lose Scully, it will be equivalent of losing about 3 Scott Thompson's. And losing Scott Thompson still hurts us.

We actually play Richmond at the 'G after the Freo game, so you'll have to wait a bit longer for the 'retribution' game I do think they are three very 'win-able' games going into the bye, and it'll be interesting to see how Demonland reacts if we win them all.

Leach sounds like he doesn't pay much attention to Melbourne games, given his query over Garland (as reported here: ).

yes its been a long week Rogue, ive bypassed the Richmond game saying that if we dont put them away its potentially end of season (4 making 8) and the fact we've gone backwards in the last 12 months...

In the long term Trengove will be the better player. The only area Scully has him covered right now is his running capacity.

Scully does not have enough penetration in his kicking, and im not sure that will change, its just his kicking style

I know this thread isn't about Tapscott, but when I read penetrating kick I thought just how good can Bull be if and when he ventures to a midfield role. Strong as an ox for the hard ball get and DAMN! that kick of his!!!! Can see him getting it in the centre Beamer style and off a couple of steps kicking it 65m to Jamar, Howe, Watts, Cook (whoever it shall be) at the top of the square time after time! Trenners, Bull, Viney and the run of Scully and the Gys..... mmmmm.
