The Tom Scully Saga

Very true, and I wonder what Bucks would rather have now........some extra coin, or a premiership medallion.

See what Garry Lyon had to say on a similar topic in his recent speech...

And now Marc Murphy has re-signed with the Blues for 3 years........over to you now Tom!

Yep. ;)

Was he eating chips with sauce ?

no, he had a plastic cup of warm midstrength beer :o

Good to hear for Blues supporters. Another player chooses not to leave to shitty GWS. Surely there must be very little motivation to go for Tom...

Except for the trifling matter of that massive sack of cash they're waving at him.

True. And the more other stars sign, they more they can throw at young Tom.

Along with the Murphy signing, this is an interesting development in the GWS saga ...

Apparently this Coniglio kid from WA is a monty top 5 draft pick if he nominates this year, but he and his family don't want a bar of GWS.

They are seriously going to struggle to be competitive if they don't get some decent players up there.

Anyone else feeling nervous that on the Footy Show tonight they are naming a player who probably wont be at there club next season.

Wow, can't really blame him though. Looks like there's a fair chance the joint is gonna be a basket case. Hope Tom takes it that this is no place for him if even an untried up and coming kid is willing to defer his draft nomination.

This type of scenario will help the MFC cause..when young guns publicly say they do not want to go to GWS...i like it.

Scully is as good as gone!!! If he hasn't signed by now, or indicated that he is going to, it's all done. Everyone else is re-signing with their clubs (i.e. Murphy, Bartel, Pendlebury). . Sad but reality I guess. .

He will miss some epic Queens Birthday confrontations!!!

Here is a song Tom & his management are listening to a lot this year....Sitting on the Fence...The Rolling Stones

Pendlebury signed a 1 year contract.

Hardly a great sign of commitment.

He said he hasn't signed, and I will back the club to convince him that the MFC is where you want to be.

Anyone find a quote or some sort of evidence in that article that Coniglio has even thought of a boycott?

I've looked and can't see any for the life of me.

Might as well just read another Scully to GWS article...

Didn't even make the "news" section of the "footy" show. This whole HOA story has no legs.

Its ok Damo was talking about Lake not being at the bulldogs next year.

Our club has a policy of not publicly speaking about contracts, Who knows whats going on behind the scenes.

what people don't understand is that whoever goes to gws has already agreed/signed. we won't know until tom commits to the mfc.

That's rubbish.

Except Scully has publicly stated not he, his manager or his family have spoken with GWS let alone signed anything. That's good enough for me at this stage.

I don't think Tom is a liar.

Seems to me to be a very honest player and person.

Can we talk about his on field performances for a moment instead.

I am curious if others think that he and trenners are complimentary in their styles.

Trenners a hard ball winner with scully having the ability to make space and run (and run and run) a la Judd.

Thoughts?

They definitely compliment each other. You can throw Gysberts into this also.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
