I turned up to Sandy for the second half. Of the Melbourne players, Pettered seemed to get the most of the ball. Bate was good, but i have had enough of him playing mediocre games for the dees. Blease must have got a lot of his disposals in the first half. The second half he was only so so, as were many of the players. I only saw him kick the ball on a few occasions, and they mostly hit the target. However, with the wind, it was difficult to kick the ball well today.

Warnock would be a great player, but he seems to panic when he gets the ball, this is what stops him from making it at the elite level, he was very reliable today otherwise.

As I was also there only for second half, agree mostly with these comments.

What did everyone think of Campbell's game?

Blease played on the west wing in the last qtr with a 40 knot NW blowing to the opposite pocket. The ball spent about 2 minutes out of 32 on his side of the ground so it made it hard to impact.

I think you will find the calls of "Tommy" were for Tommy McNamara, Tommy McDonald and just to confuse Tommy Walsh for Sandy....I was also there and my two bobs worth

Warnock....the usual mix of outstanding and horrendous

Bate...too good at this level

Blease...each week getting better and better

McDonald....going to be a player, Barry Prendergast can certainly pick them

Cook....same, has great vision

Davis...same, getting up to be speed, is going to be a monster, has a build on him like Tappy

Petterd.....a Ricky Bobby game, sometimes went missing

Maric....In and Out of the game but some really nice touches

Campbell.....if we need him, he is going to be ready

Johnston.....Ranga Rookie.....recruited as a midfielder/forward, so in second half we played him at the back, learning

McNamara...spent most of the game knocking opponents down, did some bullocking work, had a nice one on one boxing match

And I forgot him Dunn....terrible game, watched him do a wafting arm tackle, know it was his first game back, but will spend a few weeks at Casey with a display like that

Think that is about it

It was the first time that I have seen Davis play and I think he looks every inch a future AFL player. He is strong, really clean, good defensive skills and uses the ball well with composure. But most of all he is really quick. Serious speed. I think we've got a good one there. He looks a bit like Tom McNamara, and it was amusing to hear team mates accidentally calling him 'Tommy' all day! I dare say that it won't be long until they start calling McNamara 'Troy' instead.

I dont get too excited by U18 packages (if you'll pardon the pun). Having said that - let me say this !

I was over excited by Davis's package ( if you'll pardon the pun again) - he looked so calm and composed. Again i know it is a stretch but if he can develop and bring this to AFL level wow

Wasn't it Davis who got up Beamer's nose at one stage during pre-season? If so, the "package" has a bit of mongrel in it.

Dunn - hardly saw him. Doesn't work hard enough to get into the game. I think he will disappointed with that.

Lynden had better pull his finger out, so that some other team will want him at a reasonable price.

The porn star mo would make him a good fit for GWS!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
