I've been fairly reluctant to call for Bailey's sacking, still am.

But I'm starting to question if he can move from development coach to coach.

Here's who I want,

CHOCO

Proven success: check

Premiership: check

Attacking football: check

Available: check

He's the kind of aggressive personality we need. The kind of person you love if he's yours, hate if he's someone else's.

Also, the anti Paul Roos. Who wants to play that kind of football (it's a waste of such a talented list) - Scully, Trengove, Viney etc. is more Ablett, Corey, Bartel etc than Bolton, Kirk, McVeigh etc.

I think it would be a master stroke. Sure he can be a litte self obsessed but come on, the story has always been more about Mick, Sheedy or Bomber than it was about their respective stars.

He's available (unless Sheeds leavs GWS), do it, Bold Move

And one of Bailey's mentors

I'd prefer to have Paul Roos.

Got the most out of a list that definately wasn't the most talented.

Developed a game style that suited the high stopage SCG and high pressure finals footy (unlike the free flowing silky bulldogs)

Was able to identify the weaknesses in his team and trade accordingly to fill the void.

I'm sure if he had the list we have, the game style would be alot different. Just because he had Sydney playing a certain way, doesn't mean he'd have Melbourne playing the same way.

He'd be a excellent coach for the Dees

Fair point, you can't really go too wrong with a premiership coach in their second job (third of fourth job on the other hand may be different).

Choco just makes sense to me, as strange as it is.

ROCKET

out of contract and has made finals with teams that could not get of the bottom.

only once made a grand final but has just missed out about 4 or 5 times.

game plan would suit MFC and sure he would change it a bit

If we do have a new coach a the end if the year it should be Paul Roos.

It's remarkable how similar both of their coaching records are

Sydney Swans (2002–2010)

202 games, 115 wins, 85 losses, 2 draws 57%

1 premiership

2 grand finals

7 finals series

3 top 4 finishes

1999–2010 Port Adelaide

259 games 146 wins 111 losses 2 draws 56%

1 Premiership

2 grand finals

7 finals series

5 top 4 finishes

3 top of ladder finishes

And you would want him why?

Has anyone ever heard Paul Roos say that he is not interested in coaching anymore, at least while his kids are coming through. He wants to be there to help his kids with getting into the AFL. And he hasn't minced words saying that he isn't interested. At all.

Issue with Hirdy was very different as his influence over the situation could not have been overstated. He didn't want to be seen to be scheming the demise of Knights, even if that is what happened.

Great idea. Get Choco Williams - the only guy in the AFL responsible for a club with a more flakey playing group than ours.

Agree. Choco was good once. But he's past it. I don't want a coach whose last tilt at a flag ended in a 119-point defeat in a grand final. Melbourne's had enough of those sort of performances thanks.

Confusing Post - you talk about moving from development coach to Head Coach. Are you talking about Mark Williams, Our development coach OR Mark Williams, the former power coach?? Both have the nickname Choco if I'm not mistaken??

This kid had better be a gun from day one or the some people on here are gonna rip him to pieces. Poor bloke doesn't stand a chance right now.

As for Choco, i've always liked him and wondered whether we should go after him also.

Sorry, I meant Choco Williams the port version...the development coach comment was in reference to the style of the first 3 years of Bailey's regime.

To be honest, I had no want to get rid of the coach...but sheez, the Perth game just burnt me

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
