You overlooked Fred Fanning's 18 goals v St Kilda in 1947. Other facts very interesting though. None from the golden 50's and 60's.

Good work. I think we could break one of those best qrt records in the not to distant future but greatest winning margins and most goals (18, Fred fanning) can't see happening anytime soon

In a couple of years, Jurrah has the potential to kick 18. Probably has it now but not quite enough support around him. Whenever it is, he needs to play 4 quarters of footy like he played in one quarter last week.

And Don Cordner reckons Fanning told him he was going to kick 18 as the ran onto the ground that day.

Apologies. They are the records held at the MCG venue.

I'll have to find the all-time ones now.

Didn't we kick 9.8.62 in the first quarter against Footscray I believe in a game at the MCG sometime back in the the early 70's?

  • The Highest Score stands as in the OP for all-time. 28.14 (182) twice against North Melbourne. R21, 1986, MCG. R5, 1991, MCG.
  • The greatest winning margin of all time by the Mfc is as stated in the OP - 141 points v Hawthorn Round 9, 1926, MCG.
  • The most goals is indeed Fred Fanning v StKilda, R19, 1947, Junction Oval with 18 goals.
  • Followed by Harry Davie v Carlton Round 14, 1925 at Princes park with 13 goals.
  • The next 3 are 12 goals as mentioned in the OP. All at the MCG.
  • I haven't yet come accross the all time best scores quarter by quarter.

A nice even spread of goals - http://wiki.fcmelbourne.com.au/Round+6+2004 - 6-6-7-6

Still bitter I was at work that day, meaning the last 100pt win I was at was the 121pt win over Richmond in R21, 1993 when Andy Lovell + Jakovich kicked eight each and a bird shat on me at 3/4 time.

It's said to be good luck. Honestly, I think if you got shat on by a seagull in amongst 40,000-odd other people, I'd strongly consider that as being bad luck.

Thanks.

And yet the Hawks kicked 8.11 against us in the 3rd two rounds ago.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
