I`m no coach but can someone explain why all our forwards push up the ground? At a stoppage when we break our forwards are caught up the ground and can`t get back quick enough... At least leave Jurrah one out in the forward line to give us something to kick the ball too.. He`ll beat anyone one-on-one.

I'd say it's to give marking options in the midfield when the ball's deep in our backline, then beat the opposition back to our forward 50 when we get the ball.

If they didn't push up, I'd say 9 times out of 10 an opposition player would mark the ball on the rebound.

But yeah, Jurrah and Petterd are two players who make one-on-ones look easy. They should hover around the forward 50 line when the ball's in their 50.

Funny. That's pretty much how they set up in the last. Worked out pretty well for us.

I totally hate how we do that. Frustrates the crap out of me. Noticed a couple of times today we were caught out because no one was forward. From memory, we also did it a fair bit last year. Think bailey needs to get rid of this from our game plan

mainly to play through zones, need lots of options up the field so that there are options to play through, you couldnt bank on mids and defenders only to be enough players to push throug a zone and therefore you try to get as many players up the field to spread their zone as much as possible.

another reason that it could be done is to do with confidence in our fitness, we would run the defenders up and down the field and in the last quarter they were nackered, and thus we got the run on.

Easy. We have fast players in our forward line that will almost always beat their opponents back into the forward 50. We kick a lot of goals like that and it's hard to defend against. We just have to make sure we run the ball once we get it forward of centre.

This setup works especially well when we don't have strong bodies up forward. Sure, once Watts fills out into a man's body then we can start doing that. But he's still getting rag dolled and Jurrah isn't anything special one on one in a wrestle.

There isn't one single way of setting up the forward line. We'll use a variety of ways to kick goals.

Every team does this when the opposition are playing a cluster or rolling zone. It's annoying, but it's the current trend.

To counter the zone ahead of our ball.If we let them form a wall in front of our ballcarriers, we'd just kick it back to them, if we didn't get there to contest..

Thats why the Sub/interchange reduction is a good thing. To pull up this lousy zoning.

So far there seems to be more open play starting to appear in games played. Lets hope it grows into more long kicking.
