Yeah.........right, this is only a practice match!!!!!!!!. So Hawthorn are taking it easy too? The season proper starts in 2 weeks. Is the way we should be starting??

Sorry RR, I'm bent over waiting for you

Watch this space!!!!

14 points up at half time,we switched off,no injuries is NO. 1 Priority.

Bails has obviously rotated the midfield and rested Jamar.

very nice choice. love a nice GSM. The mrs is watching lakehouse (some crappy chick flick movie). we both imbiding in a nice wynns coonawarra cab sauv. im hearing you - a glass only goes so far! only way i can get through lakehouse (along with the laptop).

sent my mrs to the bedroom to watch crappy pommy tv -escape to the country! My theory from last weeks footy stands F%@# I hate Essendon, AND collingwood.... why am i watching them play between updates here and the live feed!!!! Once again thank you Mr Lehmann for your lovely drop

Wishful thinking.

"Jamer, Jones, Sylvia, Moloney in the middle to start last. Need a big lift."

Bailey's put arguably our 4 most experienced mids in the centre to get things underway. The result? Hawks snag 2 quick goals.

I don't care what time of year it is, that sucks.

Try "Ball bounced.... Hawthorn win it again".

We cannot get a sniff in the middle with a near full line up. Terrible.

Sounds like a disappointing second half after a solid first half. We seem to switch on and off a lot

Ok, so we've gone from 14 points up at half time ... to now 38 points down half way through last quarter. So in a half of football we're being beaten by 52 points by a side missing their three best players.

I don't care what time of year it is, that's inexcusable.

At 18 minute mark of last they have scored 65 points to our 13 in second half and in second round when we play them they get Buddy, Hodge and Mitchell back. Looking good.

Attention: No injuries :)

Although... who did Bate get super-sub'd on for at half-time?

Second half is indeed a little bit shizen...

Jurrah goal - finally something to smile about.

... that and Fev at Casey when he gets back from vacation

Ah well that's it... We're for the chop, the end is nigh , sky about to fall and worst of all the bottle of red is empty... Life sucks!!!

But wait, there's more... God bless graysonline :))

Ffs folks , just a little early isn't it for wrist slashing ?????

Via Twitter: 1. Game has faded away here in Tassie. One positive for all you DreamTeamers and SuperCoaches out there - Grimes will be gold for u this year less than 10 seconds ago via web

... translation... The ball is going to be in our back line a lot!!!

Haha. Just playing. A bit concerned but happy to wait until the season unfolds before criticizing.

QUESTION:

How many games did we win last year in the pre-season???

QUESTION:

We didn't win a lot during the season either :P

Final score 102 v 75

Disappointing after good start, but no injuries. Looking forward to real season and I hope a much different Melbourne turns up against Sydney at the G.

Edit: 27 scoring shots to 15, and that is without Buddy playing. Could have easily beat us tonight by 10 goals.

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • PREGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons have the Bye next week but then are on the road once again when they come up against the Gold Coast Suns on the Gold Coast in what could be a last ditch effort to salvage their season. Who comes in and who comes out?

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
