At work, anything to report?

How is the big guy? Spirits up?

Mention of Scully?

He sounded great and in very good spirits.

He’s put on 5kgs in the last few weeks which is excellent news and says he’s flying at the moment.

Spoke briefly about Scully but made it clear that it’s not all about one player. Eddie stuck by his story re Scully leaving and described his source as impeccable.

They'll prbably have a podcast up soon I'd imagine.

Thanks Harcourt.

Hearing about Jim and the fact that he has put on kg's and is feeling great really

does change my perspective on the whole Scully debate. So insignificant when you think about it.

Hope he stays nonetheless.

Keep fighting Jimma. We're all with you.

Go dees.

Why don't the reporters just ask Scully? It's a bit ridiculous really, they seem to have no problem ambushing other players with questions relating to all manner of garbage.... Quite simple, 'are you going to be a Melbourne player this year?'

What's with reporters these days?

Better make that next year Chop, otherwise we'll be more confused

Hutchy's morals apparently can't allow him to hide in the trash at the family home of a 19 year old.

And just to head off some fans - it is not in the interests of the club to throw our 19 year old in front of the media.

Completely self-serving and devious.

I thought Jim expertly shifted the focus back onto Eddie and his players when asked about Dcully.

Eddie even sounded a little caught off guard.

Paraphrasing here but Eddie countered with "our 3 stars will definitely be staying at Collingwood... well, I hope."

It was a bit clumsy.

Every time Eddie tried to push his agenda of turning the Scully situation, the money & playing a player in the seniors who might go, into a talking point, Jimmy just shuffled deftly to take the stance of "we are all about creating an atmosphere where NO player would want to leave the club."

Jim seemed to fully understand the best option is to remain positive, maintain a united front and not give much credence what is still only unfounded speculation.

Our best chance of keeping Scully is to show him all the reasons why he should stay, and then have the confidence that he will make the right decision when the ball is left in his court.

DEMONS president Jim Stynes has hit back at claims Tom Scully has signed with Greater Western Sydney, labelling Eddie McGuire's comments as "just rumours".

Will take that on board for next time. I noticed someone else the other day posted the entire contents of the article, so I followed that example. I have provided the link to acknowledge the source.

good onya Stynesy

"Obviously, you speak to the right people and then you realise it’s just rumours," Stynes told the program.

in other words he asked Scully himself

I would love to be alone with McGuire and a two-by-four

Although Eddy is good at peddling "snake oil" I don't think he would stick his credibility out that far without some substance behind it.

I agree, but there have been rumours about this for some time. And journo's think any rumour is credible and fact most of the time. If you make a list of all the rumours throughout a year of football (consider the Footy Show and radio programs like MMM), you will see that there are always hundreds of rumours going around. With so many rumours, the journo's are bound to be right with some of them based on the sheer number of them that get thrown around. Eddie has been wrong in the past, and don't be surprised if he is again. For the record, Hutchy started talking about this move from Scully well before the finals last year.

Worrying about it isn't going to keep Scully at Melbourne, so don't waste your time and energy. I love the club a great deal but AFL, like any sport, is a business and it's really only the supporters, some staff, and very few players who have any loyalty to a club. Remember also, we choose Scully by way of the 1st pick, he did not choose us. If it were up to him, I am sure he would be in the yellow and black.

No of course not, he is not reporting a bigfooty rumour.

He is reporting straight from his old mate Gubby Allan's mouth.

The fact that Gubby is obviously lying to suit his own agenda doesn't concern Eddie - Eddie just gets the headline he wants.

Btw - not sure there's a need for multiple threads covering the same topic.

That has absolutely nothing to do with anything

He is player of the Australian Football League and the process by which that works is called the National Draft. He like 95% of players is not at his boyhood club and that doesn't factor into it in even the tiniest way

He sounds too sure of himself. He'll peddle rumours with abandon but knows when to back off. If he is wrong he will have serious egg on his face. I don't think his ego would allow that possibility to occur.

the weird thing is that when you read his original quote he doesn't even categorically say it is a done deal he just says it sounds like it is one, everyone has misquouted him

We all have short memories - I remember Eddie McGuire congratulating us on having Chris Judd signed sealed and delivered. I remember half the journo's in Melbourne reporting that it was a done deal for Demons.

He's got a better chance of being right. Only one potential suitor.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
