Watts' work rate

With the spotlight takeen off him, and with the advantage of time & maturity, I feel Jack finally feels he is part of the MFC.

He has off field community roles, which he clearly enjoys and his body is catching up to his ability.

I think Jack has found himself and sees his place within a very exciting group of young players. He has had to withstand a torrid 2 year AFL debut, with inadequate patience shown by members, which undermined his confidence and self belief.

We now have another player in our 22 who wants to be there and can change the course of a game.

Well done Jack and to all those that supported him.

So excited to see what this kid is going to become! Every match is going to build confidence and momentum, and when this kid hits his potential... Look out.

Always had a soft spot for Watts since he came to the club; was judged too harshly for an 18 year old out of school. Looking forward to seeing him play this year. Good performance by the Dee's last night.

Really impressed with Watts last night. He is going for contested marks with more confidence and is oh so smart with every aspect of his disposal and positioning. He will be very special payer. The 'don't argue' was good but it must be remembered that it was against Hitchcock, who is one of their smallest players. Still, it showed a new confidence and that Watts is feeling more like he should be out there with the big boys.

The Dees really impressed me with their speed all over the ground.

Martin is very quick and could still prove to be a very handy ruckman/utility. He is still learning the game.

Jetta was great. Always gives 100%. Love his mongrel, and he seems to have improved his ball use.

Garland just gets better. He, Rivers, Grimes and MacDonald are such good readers of the ball in flight. These are great attributes for defenders.

Cook did not look out of place. Smart and with great ball use. He wasn't as skinny as I expected. Tom McDonald also

I suspect Maric will earn a spot at some stage this year but i have a feeling he will continue to frustrate us with decision making. I hope I'm wrong.

Nicholson and Evans looked pretty good and just needed to adjust to the pace of the game. I suspect they'll both play a lot at Casey this year but certainly look like 'keepers'.

Trengove reminds me of Bartel. There 'just doing it' all the time.

Jurrah was electric and is now such a drawcard for us. People will start coming to games just to watch him. A rare jewell.

So much to be excited about!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
