Players who didn't live up to expectations

MO FINE

Recommended Posts

It was a fairly decent side that he was able to be a part of. But in all fairness he was as much a contributor to that 95 flag as anyone.

I still believe though he played as many fine games in the red & blue as did for the other mob. A favourite of mine in any case.

Nothing wrong with the "Earl" (apart from his kicking for goal-But hey didn't we all let off a yell when he kicked them!!)

That miss in the 88 Elimination was soooo close to costing us that close win, Spalding would have been the happiest man out there when that siren went.

I was at the '95 GF and was absolutely Gutted when the "Earl" got his medallion. Garry Lyon who was straight above me in the old Smokers Stand was sitting with Dean Jones wasn't too happy either!

Earl Spalding was a slightly flawed Gun but played some great footy during the Northey era.

You have shown no clue at all.

Fantastic for his size and delivery he received.

Quite often only shining light. Im betting you never ever saw him.

David Williams was a clever well balanced mid sized forward who came from the MFC country zone. Unheralded for a number of years but played some really good football in the 1988 GF on a dark day. Only issue is his kicking for goal was iffy some days. Came from nowhere and a knee injury struck him down.

Guest Rojik of the Arctic

Of those cut down by injury Glen Lovett was close to the top of my list.

I used to know Glenn pretty well and know that he was told by an ex club champion that he wouldn't make it. Good to see him prove them wrong.

Anyone remember Scott Simister?

Was built like a brick shithouse and could kick a goal. Didn't seem to click at AFL level. Went on to play 3 seasons in the SANFL to top the goal kicking for his club 3 years running. He was a massive unit. Thought he was going to be the FF for the future, no idea what happened.

To be completely pedantic it was the WAFL where he played for Peel Thunder (where he did the threepeat goalkicking, though they were pretty rubbish in that era..) and East Fremantle.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
