Our Redzone has been putrid.

Thats prob the difference between a win and a loss today.

But no matter win or lose the Rams have been so much better than I thought and our future looks pretty solid with things to build on.

The difference might be that Detroit can't get into the red zone on possession ... 3 and out again for the Lions

Your defence has given you a chance

Hmm jersy grab missed there

Late in the game, home town, like night follows day

But all teams get their fair share so it has to be factored in.  Well, at least I've always factored home town decisions in

Doesn't make it right but it's a forever thing

Everyone gets a glass of the onion.

Or something like that..

It should have been called but the Rams had their chances throughout the game

Hard luck @Gorgoroth

Look it’s a hold but it’s on the minor side, some of the hits throughout the game meant that the minor ones were getting through.
I didn’t think they would call it and they didn’t.
We hung in tough. Puka, Kupp and Robinson with Williams in the backfield are going to cause problems. The off season we gotta draft and trade for Secondary players.

Im happy for Goff and Reynolds. And I hope they do well.

Well done to Dan Campbell, Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions on snapping and Essendon like drought of winning in the playoffs since 1991.

Like the Dees in 2018 sometimes you have to get over these humps first before going forward and they can now build to the future starting next week.

Bad luck Gorg. Likely the better team on the night but couldn't take those chances. A few extra pieces and they are going to be right back challenging for the NFC West and beyond.

Adam Scheffter is saying Higbee looks like he suffered a ACL on that low hit when he went for the catch.

New rule inc? It’s been on the cards a few times.

It makes you wonder how that sort of targeted hit hasn't already been banned

It's a brutal game

Well they have for multiple sections ie, QB’s, linemen, like the helmet to helmet on a defenceless receiver I reckon the below the knee contact will be next.
And I understand why he did it, his size vs Higbee means he needs to chop him down cos a stand up hit means the bigger player usually wins. If it does come in, could change the dynamic of bigger receivers and tight ends.

There's been a few calls for this kind of rule and eventually it's gonna win I presume. I understand going low but the responsibility is yours if you take out a knee.

Excellent game from Love (albeit without too much pressure from the cowboys D). Looks like Packers have found a real talent to replace Rodgers @Macca. Reckon you guys are closer to an SB than Dallas.

Hard luck all the same, BDA

I honestly didn't believe the Packers could play that well and Dallas just had one of those days

Don't worry, I've seen it happen the same way a stack of times with Rodgers & McCarthy

If you do go after Belichick, Dallas will be must viewing and Bill knows how to win big.  It's just the match up between Jerry & Bill?  Huge ego's!

But they could find a way for it to work and Bill would know how to manage Prescott properly.  Belichick's strength is total team with no weak spots

So, you've got the talent to win big, you just need a great coach

You never know

Ah yes Packers vs 49ers @Maccajust for something different! If Dallas and GB is the most played playoff game in history then this one surely isn't far behind, in the last 30 years at least.

I've been fairly confident going into the playoffs despite form but anytime I see the Packers as a playoff matchup I do take it seriously, moreso than if it were someone like the Vikings or Cardinals etc (Made sure not to choose anyone's team here) but I will say I'm a bit nervy now.

This Packers side is in good form and just dismantled a team who was 8-0 at home this season. Jordon Love has been incredible with some of the throws he's made under pressure and he's impressed me as much if not more than Brock Purdy. They are also running the ball very well, we saw Aaron Jones run like there was another Optus outage and he had to hand deliver everyone's text messages.

As you mentioned Purdy won't have thrown a football on 3 weeks but Deebo, CMC, Trent Williams and a few others are also in the same boat. We can only hope they will all be raring to go. Our defense is widely considered to be strong but teams have managed to move the ball on us with running at times. We will also be without DE rotation Clelin Ferrell who I find really good at setting the edge on defensive run plays.

Its going to be a true NFL playoff game and the Pack are in with an outside shot. It's a free hit for them so they will give it everything.

Importantly, we want this to be the Saturday (Sunday our time) game. Nothing would irritate me more than knowing I took today off when we had the bye and then missing it next Mon. May the best team win!

Good news, layz

Our game is set down for 12.15pm next Sunday (AEDT)

The Texans are set as the road team for the Sunday 8.30am game (AEDT) and they will be at the Ravens if the Bills win tomorrow (Bills would be at KC 10.30am Monday if they win)

Detroit are the home team in the Monday 7.00am game and they will play the Eagles or Tampa

Edited by Macca

As expected, the Bills won comfortably

So, they'll be at home against KC next Monday at 10.30am (AEDT)

2 points for quite a few in the comp too!

Bills no 2 seeds so chiefs have to travel to buffalo.

Oh, thanks for the correction!

What a big win that was against Miami!

Eagles offence stinking it up. They've forgotten how to play.

Eagles were putrid and got only worse at the end.

Godert got hit low into the knee like Higbee at the end of the game.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
