Deebo’s problem is he doesn’t fit a mould so there is no real market value for him, and he wants top top dollars yet the style he plays doesn’t suit all teams. Going to be interesting.

And let's be honest, he's had 3 seasons and gets banged up a lot of the time. I know he's been amazing in big games but he's really still in the 'potential' category.

I actually read Dez Bryant was calling for him to retract the trade request because he's probably not going to find a better offense fit than Kyle's scheme. Don't know, could be a week 4 trade for cut price the way it's going.

Guy at work reckons he will sit the season. I hope he doesn’t for the games sake, for the Rams sake I hope he retires 😂

Des Bryant speaks well there, niners are prob the best fit for him.

Rams/Cowboys set for a regular season game in Sydney in 2024

If they held the match on the same weekend as the Everest (mid October) that would be a decent weekend away!

Bangin match up, I'd be keen.

I’m already there!

The game starting at 12.30pm AEDT would be 8.30pm on the East Coast of the USA ... 5.30pm on the West Coast (once daylight saving time is operating here in Oz)

So Saturday Night Football beamed in from Australia ... or Sunday Night Football if they held the game on the Monday of the NSW Labour Day weekend (early October)

Maybe late December could fit ... they traditionally play a few NFL Saturday night games post the College Saturday schedule in late December

Whichever way they do it tickets to the game will be hard to get hold of!

And expensive. But I’m going to start saving now 😂

It will essentially be like having two Superbowl mornings in one year, more than happy with that!

The practice games have started already!

Not that the result means much but the Jags went down to the Raiders on Friday

There's a full list of games next weekend including the Packers @ 49ers on Saturday ... 10.30am Oz time

If you've got the ESPN app, you'll find all the scheduled games

If I get a chance I'll try and find what the main talking points are going into the new season (apart from the latest installment of the Tom Brady show!)

Season proper kicks off on Friday Sept 9th (Bills @ Rams)

Happy to run with the tipping comp again.  We should get enough starters

Let's be honest, we could use a slight distraction right now.

No sweat layz, we'll beat the Blues next week and then our destiny will be in our own hands (which includes playing for a top 4 berth with a possible re-match against the Pies or Cats first up in the finals)

You've got to love a challenge and we'll be up for that challenge

The next win changes everything and we will bounce back ... the lads will be smarting about last night's result

You know what I want Macca? I want MFC to study the twist of fate manual of Gorg's Rams in 2021 eg Lose twice in the season to their bitter enemies,  then play them again in a final and beat them where it matters making Collingwood fans not eat, but choke on the biggest humble pie ever baked thus winning the war in the long run. I'm tired of black and white prevailing over red and blue. It's like Darth Vader always winning.

Looking forward to more TB12. Julio will work wonders.

Good outcomes don't come easy, layz

Might be just the wake up call we needed, losing last night.  We now know what's required to go deep in September.  It's crystal clear and there are no excuses.  If we were getting ahead of ourselves, that thinking will have disappeared

In an odd way, Ed's words have made sure that we now need to clam up and just get the job done.  I can see the team becoming totally focused now with no distractions

As for Collingwood, they are a dangrous opponent and it will be a challenge to beat them next time.  They are very efficient when they have the ball and they stifle the opposition when the opposition have the ball.  Eventually they win the ball back and they are off

They have close wins and they lose many of the stat categories but their efficiency wins out.  They don't waste their opportunities.  And they don't give up

Every time they win the ball back they've got a plan to score with that opportunity

A bit like when Tom Brady has the ball in his hands ... efficiency is the forte

Our coaching staff can learn from how the Pies play ... we need to be more efficient and not waste possessions

So we learn from the loss so it's not a total disaster (much like the Cats have learnt from their PF loss to us)

We're still in the game and we've still got the game to win big

Edited by Macca

Oh and @layzie

The last 15 times we've met the Pies in a final we've prevailed 14 times

We own them in September!

I’m in. Been keen as for the season to start.

Stafford already banged up, Van Jefferson out for a few weeks but keen as to see Allen Robinson play alongside Coop.
Always some late big moves coming into the season. Should be fun!

Yep count me in! Might be the only thing to keep me interested this year... Falcons will go 2-14 at best

Don't forget your tips you blokes!

Season start has snuck up on us but we do it all again beginning Friday ... Bills @ Rams

@DeeSpencer@Go the Biff@JV7@layzie@Gorgoroth@Dee Zephyr@BDA@Clintosaurus@titan_uranus@DemonDave @Dappa Dan

The reigning champion is 'Go the BIff'

Same points system as in previous years so with 3 road winners correctly tipped (from 3 tips), points are gained!

With one added on exception ...

A bonus point can be gained if you are the only successful tipster in any given week.  This is to encourage some left-field tipping and also serves as a way of catching the leaders (or streeting the field!)

Points on offer this season

Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16 & 17 offer 2 points for the weekly winners

Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 & 14 - 1 point only

Week 18 - 3 points

So 2 big points on offer for week 1 😏

I'll post up the games soon enough but you'll find the schedule on the ESPN app

New participants are welcome to join in ... it's as simple as just naming 3 road teams.  But gaining points isn't an easy task as we've all found out over the years!

@DemonDave @Dappa Dan @Gorgoroth @Dee Zephyr @JV7 @layzie @Go the Biff@Clintosaurus@DeeSpencer

Week 1 of the tipping comp kicks off with 2 points up for grabs (plus a bonus point if you are the only successful tipster for the week) Good luck!

Alright everyone, 2022 season begins. Get ready for the highs and the lows. Really hoping this is the year I can finish on the Illustrious DL NFL tipping podium. Always remember to tip responsibly!

Saints, Ravens, Colts

Russell Wilson renews acquaintances with his former teammates in week 1!!  MNF no less

There are some other good match-ups in week 1

As in most years there are sure to be 4 or 5 teams that will improve and probably just as many who will fall away

Packers @ Minnesota, KC @ Arizona, Tampa @ Dallas (SNF) are 3 games to look out for

As well as Friday's match ... Bills @ Rams

In the early Sunday timeslot, the 49ers @ Chicago is another interesting game

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
