One of the best rivalries in football right now Gorg. I'm loving it.

We're going to have our hands full in coverage, Ambrey Thomas still 50-50 and I've really liked his positioning work. Also anything that keeps that PI machine Josh Norman off the field is a plus. Kupp I'm conceding several catches to already, he's too hot right now. Can we minimise the damage from OBJ and Higbee. I don't know.

Higbee is the one to watch on third downs, he gets us more 3rd downs than any other player.

Kupp is in exceptional form. He has been quiet first halves with great second halves.

To me the game with be lost and won along the two lines. Who controls the line will win the game.

What happened to Dap?

Not sure ... he's had breaks from this place before if I recall correctly

And if it wasn't for these other threads I would have had some time away myself!!

But now that we've broken through with the premiership ..............

Yep, we all needed a break from the main thread in that period I think.

Usually from November to February the only Demonland threads I visit are the NFL and cricket ones.

This year's been a touch different...

Bills should have known Chiefs would go centre field in the last 13. It's the quickest place to run to and with the time outs they could do it. Milano on Kelce was a terrible matchup. Should have gone an extra DB.

Agree, as I’ve said earlier, double Kelce and Hill and hope the other receivers don’t get you.

Yeah the NFL one keeps me sane. Soccer one good from time to time but it's not quite as active as this one. Sometimes go in the MMA one but it's usually just me having a conversation with myself.

But as an aside how much joy has the footy thread been this summer! Just keeps rolling on and on.

Re the tipping comp

For each of the 2 games this weekend 3 points awarded for the win & 3 points for the correct margin (1-6,  7-12,  13+)

So 12 points up for grabs

Mon 7.00am Bengals @ Chiefs

Mon 10.30am 49ers @ Rams

And the Leaderboard in the Tipping Comp

I reckon 5he Bengals can cause the upset, I’m just too chicken to tip them 😂

I’m doing it, need to go for broke!

Big chance for Burrow to go next level, tough but the possibility does exist in this universe I reckon.

If Burrow can play well then this like the Bills game will be high scoring and end to end.

Cinci 22 Chiefs 32

49ers 26  Rams 29

Brady has retired.

You'd have to say that he got out on his own terms and at the top of his game

I'm a tad surprised that he is retiring but he is 44 years old.   Maybe the body said enough (or the mind)

7 x Super Bowl Champion!

What a career!

Seems the tweet which was from his account got deleted. Someone may have pulled the trigger too soon?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
