Exactly, there’s a hell of a lot to unpack. I do find it strange with Arians claiming he didn’t know about the injury.

The latest is AB taking a blowtorch to his friendship with TB12. Not pleasant.

If Tampa make the SB watch it blow up big time that week.

Yep, the upset wins continued to happen

JV7 is the only one still alive with his tips but he needs the Pats to win to gain the 3 points (and become the overall winner)

Miami currently lead the Pats 17-7 close to half time with the Pats just scoring a TD

But if the Bills win against the Jets (as expected) the Pats might rest a few starters in the 2nd half as they won't necessarily have anything to play for

However, at half time the Bills only lead the Jets 13-7

Edited by Macca

Rams & Niners tied 17-17 with 7.42 to play in the 4th.  Saints leading Atlanta 24-13 with 10.55 to play in the 4th

Relevant to the comp ... Pats trailing Miami 10-24 with the 4th quarter to play

Overtime in LA

Both teams benefit with a tie!

Pats 24 Miami 27 with just over 2 minutes to play

Edited by Macca

And we have a winner in the tipping comp!

Go the Biff breaks through and wins!  Well done GtB!

If we get enough starters,  a post season tipping comp can be held again

Same as last year, it will work like this ...

Week 1 (6 Games) - 1 point for each win plus a bonus point if your margin of victory falls within the correct margin bracket of the actual result ... 1-6,  7-12 or 13+

Week 2 (4 Games) - 2 points per win plus 2 bonus points for each the correct margin bracket

Week 3 (2 Games) - 3 points per win plus 3 bonus points for each correct margin bracket

Week 4 (Super Bowl) ... 5 points for the win plus 5 bonus points for the correct margin bracket

Traditionally we've posted up scorelines so the margin bracket will be covered in a default manner if scorelines are posted up ... Or, you can just post up a bracket margin of victory alongside your tips

Congratulations GtB and Well Played!

Close up 2nd were Clintosaurus & JV7 whilst DemonDave, layzie & Gorgoroth all finished on the podium (achieving the 3rd highest total of points)

Well played everyone and thanks to all for your participation

It's a tough comp to win because as we found out in the last month, gaining any sort of inroads was a difficult assignment!  Just like there are no certainties in life, this tipping comp is no different!

@Gorgorothgetting that first hour of watching in?

I got about 15 mins of game time in, rest was score updates on the way then followed the last 10 mins and OT on bleachers report.

Seems the same old probs with McVay Rams. When a team hits us psychically on both sides of the ball we don’t have the mongrel to push back.

Stafford won’t get us a SB. Morris is terrible D coordinator and we have already been linked with VIC Fangio the day he got the sack from the Broncos.

McVay has one choice this off season, either give up play calling or invest in a O line that allows decent run game. Without it he fails.

Cheers Macca. I like the Might & Power reference a helluva lot better than the one I came up with. Thought I'd Bradbury'd this. Did anyone score a point in the last month ?

Thanks again for running the comp. It's a great way to keep a broader interest in the NFL aside from the teams I have an interest in.

Thanks as always for the tipping comp Macca! Family life & work has made it difficult for me to follow the NFL the past couple of seasons anywhere near the level I used to but the tipping comp keeps me engaged just enough!

Bring on the post season - This is where I do my best work 😉

I agree that you won't win a SB with Stafford at QB. He just doesn't do it enough in pressure moments although he did make a few ripper throws to Cupp in this game.

Fangio would be a big get, loved his work with us.

I've been in the same boat JV7 ... work especially has taken up a lot of my time so I'm a bit out of touch

But as you said, the post-sesson is often when we can really tune in.  For instance, I'll get to watch 4 games live this upcoming weekend plus listen in to the other 2 games

The first week of the playoffs now having 6 games is fabulous ... I'm all in!

Scroll up towards the top of this page for the schedule of games this week (and there is a quoted post directly above containing the schedule as well)

We need a more physical Oline, if we can’t run the ball, we struggle.
Strangely Stafford is best in 4th qtrs, but for us to win if the run game gets stuffed we need Stafford to be much better than he is.
I will say, he hasn’t been bad over all, he has been quite good, but he hasn’t nor will he reach the heights required.

  • Steelers 19 @ KC 29

He's in the category of very good but can you trust him 100%. Then again there's very few in the league you can do that with.

My biggest problem with Stafford is he makes really bad mistakes, and then make another equally as dumb soon after.

McVay doesn’t help, he loves the big throwing plays and will call some weird plays and what’s worse, like the niners game McVay calls and plays conservatively, especially late in games.

  • GAMEDAY: Brisbane

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are back on the road with a massive challenge ahead — facing the reigning premiers, the Brisbane Lions, at their Gabba fortress. The Lions are licking their wounds after a shock draw in Tasmania last week, while Melbourne’s season hangs in the balance. Can the Dees defy the odds and pull off a miracle to keep their razor thin finals hopes alive?

  • NON-MFC: Round 10

The Sir Doug Nicholls Round kicks off in Darwin with a Top 4 clash between the Suns and the Hawks. On Friday night the Swans will be seeking to rebound from a challenging start to the season, while the Blues have the Top 8 in their sights after their sluggish start. Saturdays matches kick off with a blockbuster between the Collingwood and Kuwarna with the Magpies looking to maintain their strong form and the Crows aiming to make a statement on the road. The Power face a difficult task to revive their season against a resilient Cats side looking to make amends for their narrow loss last week. The Giants aim to reinforce their top-eight status, while the Dockers will be looking to break the travel hoodoo. The sole Saturday game is a critical matchup for both teams, as the Bulldogs strive to cemet their spot in the top six and the Bombers desperately want break into the 8. Sundays start with a bottom 3 clash between the Tigers and Kangaroos with both teams wanting to avoid the being in wooden spoon contention. The Round concludes with the Eagles still searching for their first win of the season, while the Saints look to keep their finals hopes alive with a crucial away victory. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?
