The extra week of the regular season pushes back the playoffs to a mid January start

The schedule for week 1 (Wild-Card round) of the playoffs is as follows (all AEDT)

Sunday Jan 16th 8.35am

Sunday Jan 16th 12.15pm

Monday Jan 17th 5.05am

Monday Jan 17th 8.40am

Monday Jan 17th 12.15pm

Tuesday Jan 18th 12.15pm

The rest of the playoffs are as per usual with the traditional fortnight between the Championship games & the Super Bowl

And the Super Bowl is also to be played a week later - Monday 15th Feb

Yeah I like that idea Macca! I'm getting in early before I forget this week's...

Cowboys

Saints

Seahawks

@Gorgoroth  @Dappa Dan  @DeeSpencer  @JV7  @Dee Zephyr  @Go the Biff  @titan_uranus  @Clintosaurus  @DemonDave  @layzie

Only the 1 point on offer this week as a precursor to 10 points up for grabs in the last 4 weeks ... but the 1 point on offer this week could be vital in a strategic sense.  Good luck!

  • 10 - Go the Biff,
  • 8 - Clintosaurus,  JV7,  Gorgoroth
  • 7 - DemonDave,  layzie
  • 5 - Dee Zephyr,  Macca

Falcons,  Saints, Seahawks

I like the idea of the bonus point too!

Ravens  Saints  Dallas

Demayrius Thomas has been found dead age 33.

What a great receiver, loved watching him and Peyton tear teams apart.

RIP.

Seahawks, Saints, Cowboys

Barnburner at Lambeau

Bears scoring on nearly every possession (or run back)

Rodgers will need to find some more magic

Edit:  Bears didn't go on with it but their new QB looks the goods

As an aside, everyone scored a point this week apart from Gorg & myself ... but we finish off the last 4 weeks with 10 points up for grabs (2, 2, 3 & 3)

2 points on offer this week (Week 16 - 2 points,  Week 17 - 3 Points,  Week 18 - 3 Points)

2 or 3 absolute standout road chances this week - the good teams usually get it done at this stage of the season but there are other road chances

And we get 2 Sunday games (AEDT) this week

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.
