Bills, Bucs and Chargers

Boy, am I struggling to get a read on the competition this year.

Could be the D/land NFL tipping comp curse at work t_u

Those who have won have often struggled the following season (although Gorg did go back-to-back and Clint has buttered up well after his 2 wins)

But all the others have not even gotten on the podium the following year

GB get the win over my boys, seems our offence played pretty good but once again our D was poor on the run.

McVay is now 7-22 when losing at the half, 1-16 when it’s over 4 points.

We once again didn’t commit to the run as much as I’d like but did some.
I give it 3 weeks and we fire the D coordinator. Have Jags this week, then Cards, Seahawks, vikes, ravens, niners.

Prob not looking at better than 3-3 down that stretch. (Unless drastic step up by all), so 7-1 becomes 10-7.

Ive lost all faith in McVay, who does he blame now Goff is gone?

The Rams might have to do it all on the road but if you can put it all together, you'll be there when the whips are cracking

All your remaining games are winnable ... assuming you get over the Jags next up, the following game at Arizona looms large as a season definer.  Win both and the season is well and truly alive

As for the Packers, we've got a relatively moderate run home with the week off this week being a blessing (injury wise)

Whilst on paper they look winnable, I can’t seE us beating Cards, Ninersor Ravens who all run the ball well and we can’t stop the run for plop. Jags should be a easy kill…I say should. Vikes without Cook skews in our favour and Seahawks aren’t great but it’s a Div game.

Henderson now with a quad strain, McVay won’t use Michel more than 3 times a game even though he was 4.7y per carry on Sunday and similar in other games. We haven’t used a second TE since Mundt got injured and if you look at how many personnel we used it’s minimal. GB used everyone, meaning it’s less predictable. McVay has been mostly figured out and os stubbornly remaining to his guns and woods out has really hurt.

Some interesting results today.
Lions get a good lead at the half only to lose it then regain it on the last play of the game.

Seahawks beat the niners and threw in a. 73yrd fake punt to boot.

Ravens miss the 2 point conversion when a single point ties the game. Steelers win.

And the Patriots are (right now) the No.1 seed in the AFC.  Who would have thought?  Belichick gets his team into contention again

Pats @ the Bills tomorrow and there is a stack riding on the result

He is a master. Jones looks like Brady 2.0, nothing flash or powerful, just accurate and smart.

The race is well and truly on in the tipping comp.  With 11 points still available (Week 14 - 1 Point,  Week 15 - 2 Points,  Week 16 - 2 Points,  Week 17 - 3 Points & Week 18 - 3 Points) anyone can still win outright

Time for some left field solutions for the backmarkers and this year, that strategy may just pay off.  Or it won't!

As for the frontrunners and those on the speed, do they dare to be different?  No risk, no reward!

We're all chasing down 'Go the Biff' but will he falter?

I thought of an idea for the tipping comp next year ... a bonus point awarded if only 1 tipster correctly picks 3 road winners in any given week

Just adds a bit of interest especially if a tipster is trying to catch up or as an added incentive to tip away from the norm

All year there have been any number of road winners that none of us have picked

Just the 1 bonus point though ... even in the weeks where 2 or 3 points are up for grabs

Just a thought

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
