Hale and Brown are two completely different players, Hale is a log and towards the end of this season was a liability in the North forward line. Brown has the agility over Hale to perform the role you're talking about.

If you want another player to take over PJ's and Miller's dominance at Casey then Hale is the man for the job.

I got to agree with rpfc's logic here. Hale would have a very simple game role to play. Nothing complicated and as long as his head is in the right place, quite within his talents.

My major concern is his reported salary and whether North would contribute towards it.

Would much prefer Mitch Clark from the Lions though if its now a possibility.

What would he cost in terms of trades and $$$s?

Sure, that's great. The problem with this line of reasoning is that up until now Hale has never been able to perform that role on a consistent basis.

Why do you think he's automatically going to vastly improve just because we recruit him?

Maybe it will boil down to the idea of swapping a player of a type ,underperforming small forward midfield which we have a few of for another teams similar situatio Underperforming postional player of which they have a few) ...the rationale being we can chance that Hale might come on. Its not really a loss in that view.

We will have ( hopefully ) KPP coming on in a few years...but what to do til then ?

Yep, we've taken a chance with PJ and he never came on.

If we can bring in Hale cheaply then we can give him the same chance.

He might be able to do it.

Mitch Clark would cost more than his worth to us.

Walking to work today I saw a guy putting a "for sale" sign in the window of his Commodore. I thought - gee that'd beat walking to work - I offered him my half-eaten donut and my coffee which was still mostly full.

Hawthorn are expressing a bit of interest in Hale now as well . Should be a very active trade week me thinks

Every year there's a lot of talk and possible trades leading up to trade week.

And every year about 5% of those mentioned actually happen.

Don't get your hopes up.

Definitely but this and next year are different in that the usuals shops are all but closed til the arvo ( figuratively speaking) Trading gains in the opportunity stakes . Might be just me but there's a he'll of a lot more players jumping ships requesting trades, or might just be more transparent this year for reasons unknown

I totally agree with this post.

I think a lot of people are forgetting that the reason the FD is interested in Hale is for structural purposes. He's proved he can be a competent FF target (and i remember him killing Warnock last year) as well as a competent 2nd ruck to give Jamar a break for 20-25% of the game.

Hale's presence would be to allow our leading forwards more space, and give us someone to kick long to so our crumbing forwards can then pounce on the loose ball. Hale also has the height to be a legitimate 2nd ruck and has done enough to show that he can play that role.

We don't need hale to be a dominant player, but a role player and this is something he could easily do. If he makes Jurrah, Watts and Greens jobs easier then its a good move.

Oh and why do people keep talking about Mitch Clark....why would Brisbane even be interested in moving him??? Why don't we actually talk about players we have a chance of acquiring. Mitch Clark would cost us too much to acquire when there are cheaper options out there.

He wants out of Brisbane, but wants to go home to Perth and play for Fremantle. So we're no chance anyway.

Really, i never heard this. Where have you heard this from??

and the other word was that heave-ho were not in a position to trade - hence the general interest

Ok, thanks for that clarification. However, what was the source of Clark wanting to return to Freo????

Try here.

Thanks. Certainly shows that's something is certainly wrong in Brisvegas.

Clark or White.

I would love to have Jessee White, but for the role I see this back up ruck/forward fulfilling, it might not be worth the outlay.

So the general consensus is that Hale will predominately play as a KPF and pinch hit in the ruck? My concern with this is that Forward line pressure is today one of the most important aspects of the game and with a 200+cm giant sitting in the forwardline he isn't going to provide much pressure at all. Yes i think he would be a good acquistion but would rather him coming off the bench to ruck and then running forward of the play rather then playing as a permanent forward. I just don't think he has the speed or agility to be a permanent forward.

Yep, trading out of this draft is not a wise move.

I don't expect any team to trade their 1st round draft pick unless it's to land a really big Judd-size fish.

And none have been speculated on yet.

Clark - 21/22yrs 200cm wants out >Hale>PJ. I thought White wasn't available? (and too expensive). Don't know enough about White.

Clark is off to Perth anyway.

I don't see either as attainable TBH.

The Hun today has said it seems Hale maybe heading our way in exchange for a second round pick, but Hawthorn are still circling.

I'm not happy at all about the prospect of us giving up a 2nd round draft pick for Hale. Makes me think it's likely that both Warnock & Maric will be involved in trades now to allow us to still have our 2nd pick around the 30 mark?

Posted

Not sure Hale is worth our 2nd rnd pick, but I have full trust in our FD and believe they know what there doing.

Do think we need to get another pick elsewhere if we give up our 2nd rounder!

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
