Forum Footy in October?

Featured Replies

Dunno why the pies forum should be keen to play in early october, since they are still in the finals ... but they have been in contact, and tell me that Vic Park will be available only on Sunday, 3 October or the following Sunday, 10 October.

Are we interested in playing this early?

If so, do people have a preference for one of these dates?

Forum Footy players and organisers, please post on this thread and I will get back to the Pies organisers...

btw, their idea is to invite a total of 4 sites (including them) to field teams on the chosen day ...

I can't say no to the chance to break my finger and elbow again. IN.

WOOOOOOOOOO been waiting for this my team won the granny yesterday and still on a high.. GET IT DONE ROLLO :)

I could be that tall skinny Cale Morton player. IN!

Rollo. Brilliant!

I'm living in Shanghai nowadays, but as luck would have it I'm back in Australia over those weekends.

I'd love a run and can probably bring a few extra numbers.

will need your strict promise, wise, that you will not (without provocation) set out to permanently injure the opposition players...

(not that there is anything wrong with that, but it looks good in print)...

Rollo, you're cheeky, but you have whatever assurances you need that I will not play outside of the spirit of the game.

There were no issues last year...

It's only Carlton I've historically had troubles with - and I've received more cheap shots than I've given fair hits from that mob.

What is this?

Do Demonland members play matches against other teams forum members?

It seems that they do and have been quite successful in the past :).

I'm available on 3 October but not 10 October (going to a wedding).

I have someone who might coach the team who coached at VAFA Under 19 level who I think is quite good and would fit in well with the players. He's a Demons supporter of course as is his brother who is a gun footballer with a basketball background who could be our very own Jack Watts playing at CHF (194cm etc). Don't know yet if either of them is available but I take it there are no objections if I take it further.

I'm in Aus for Oct 3 but not Oct 10.

Would it be too risky to play a game of football a day before departing on a three month voyage?

think i might have to give this one a miss

That would be me, minus the engine. I'm in as well

In for 3rd, not 10th.

I can bring some friends if we need them

Definately in Rollo BRING IT ON !

:( I need operations on both hips. I'm out for this season. May try to make a comeback next year if the surgeon says it's ok. But I'm in serious doubt and more likely than not have played my last game in the red and blue guernsey of Demonland.

If I was playing, (which I won't) I'd take that role off you at 174 cm and 55 kg...thing is being 15 I'd get my ass kicked

Hey... I never misdiagnosed an ACL. I was non-committal. I told whoever it was (?Riv) that he needs to be examined again as it's often hard to tell straight away. Was it an ACL?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
