MELBOURNE v COLLINGWOOD

Melbourne

B: Clint Bartram, Matthew Warnock, James Frawley

HB: Nathan Jones, Jared Rivers, Jack Grimes

C: Cameron Bruce, Jack Trengove, Tom Scully

HF: Neville Jetta, Matthew Bate, Lynden Dunn

F: Brad Green, Brad Miller, Aaron Davey

Foll: Mark Jamar, Brent Moloney, Jordie McKenzie

I/C: Colin Garland, Cale Morton, Jordan Gysberts, Jack Watts

EMG: Jamie Bennell, Paul Johnson, Kyle Cheney*

In: Dunn, Frawley, McKenzie

Out: James McDonald (hamstring), Colin Sylvia (toe), Jamie Bennell

Cheney comes in for Sylvia but doesn't make the 22. I expect he will play if Jones is forced to withdraw.

Watts and Miller both keep their spots. I wonder if this means Dunn will play a forward defensive role instead (e.g. shutting down Shaw or O'Brien, like Petterd did in Round 2)

Cheney won't be playing -he is played for Casey today - and doing very well!

Poor guy. I wonder how many times he's been an emergency in 2010.

Is PJ playing too? Surely he wouldn't be the one who is left to come if Jones doesn't get up.

Edit: According to the Casey board PJ and Cheney are playing for Casey, which leaves Bennell as the match-day emergency I guess.

Yep, PJ at casey too. If Jones doesn't play it'll be Bennell back in.

Guest The Boss

No point risking him if he is not 100%. Does anyone know if he was playing hurt the last few weeks? Col has been ordinary since his 5 goal effort earlier this year.

It was reported he has been playing in pain for 6 weeks.

I didn't think he's play with that issue on his right foot, his kicking foot. That bleeding has to be caused by something to clot? He kicks the ball hard & long. There are lots of foot issues in the AFL lately.

I not surprised that he's got at least a week off. (The Bye)...

According to KC from Casey, PJ played for Casey today so he wont be an emergency on Monday.

Thank god

Bennell didn't play for Casey while all others were there....BTW Strauss was excellent and hopeful to see him soon.

Expect Bennell to play.....for probably Jones, possibly even Gysberts I've heard a few things after he only played 5 mins of last qtr against Blues. Heard Chip around the place too but am sure he will be there.

Getting smashed. 2 goals to the pies already in the first 3 minutes. This has a smell of Geelong about it.

4 times inside 50 to nil. 13 touches to 3.

Oh dear.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
