Mitch Morton

There are strong rumours that Mitch Morton is on the chopping block from Richmond due to being lazy and unaccountable. He is clearly in Richmonds best 18 but isn't getting a game. I for one, think we should go after him. His talents can't be denied after kicking 41 goals last year and 35 the year before in arguably the worst team.

I think considering Cale is with us and petterd is most likely heading to the Gold Coast, i'd say we are most likely going to land Morton which would be great.

With good coaching, I'd be confident Morton could be moulded into a 55 goal+ forward.

Depending on the price. If he comes at bargain basement price, yes.

I'd only go after him if Petterd were to leave at season's end and he came very cheap, even then i would be hesitant. There must be something wrong with him if 2 clubs throw him out.

if pettered leaves i would consider but im not convinced he will leave or be let go

if nothing else is on offer then might be worth it.

but lets play out the year with the boys we got and then think about all this stuff

I don't want any forwards that can't be trusted to kick straight in front of goal.

Morton is a lottery with his kicking. Don't want that come finals time

You dont recruit players because there is limited options or is a last choice.

Their either good enough or not regardless of the situation, personally i dont mind Morton he has played some good games for richmond but id pass we have enough medium to small forwards.

good point

but i think its something he can work on

never thought miller would kick 5 in a game but he did

anything can happen with a bit of practice

From what I've been hearing he is a nightmare to coach, and a nightmare to get along with.

His teammates don't like him, and neither do the coaching staff.

Yes he has talent, but talent without attitude counts for little.

If Warsfold, who is a very tough coach, couldn't deal with him, and Richmond want him out, I can't see how we could turn him around, or more importantly, why we should.

You'd consider it for a very very cheap deal, where the risk is minimal, but I certainly wouldn't look to trade anything decent for him.

in the AFL or VFL???

Remember we will also be losing that no flaws forward in Newton so that will leave a big hole at Casey.

If you look at our forward set up:

HF: Sylvia, Watts, Tapscott/Green/Davey

F: Wonna, Jurrah,Petterd

Then you have Martin in the wings potentially.....

Do we need to recruit another lazy and unaccountable footballer? I dont see him as a replacement for Petterd even if Petterd were leave. Its not much to say an AFL footballer is best 18 at the Tigers. But its a concern that when thast player is not being selected then questions abound. I doubt whether Bailey is an easier taskmaster than Hardwick. Bailey gave CJ, TJ and Carroll short shift for culture reasons. Mortons sulks wont buy him favour either.

Check him out but I was told somewhere that MFC got the best of the Mortons and I have no doubt we have. Although our Morton apparently cant kick.

From what I have heard, and that's mainly from those that comment on the game, he doesn't follow team instructions like passing the ball to someone in a better position, instead he will try to kick the goal from any angle.

If he is a glory hound, and can't play a team game, then why would we want him?

I'd prefer we pick up another tall-forward prospect in the draft to bring through with Watts. That way we potentially have two 10year high quality tall forwards for the next decade.

Looking at the news reports on this years U18 National Championships there appears to be a few good prospects coming through.

He is a very skilful player. I would want him to have a shot instead of over-possess the footy. I have no doubt he will be on our radar

Wow Rhino.....I have to agree with everything you say here. I'd much rather stick with what we have......it's only my feeling but I don't think Rick P will go and even if he does the forwards put up here by Rhino are more than capable of being everything and more than what a Mitch Morton could be. Stef Martin, even Dan Hughes.....should be given more opportunity should Rick P go home

Its started early.

If he is a nightmare to coach and get along with, why would you even consider it? He is not even a big Key Forward, he is Sylvia's size.

Add in sitting on blokes heads and I swear we are talking about robbo ; ) haha

the most selfish player in the comp. no thanks at any price.

Imagine the pressure Cale Morton would be under if we recruited his brother and Mitch brought his dodgy attitude along for the ride. It would create unwanted tension among the playing group and possibly isolate Cale.

Definite No from me.

Did anybody else here watch him play for Coburg against Casey?

If you did you know the answer, NOT ON YOUR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For free only.

Not even pick 100. Well, maybe pick 100, but not a pick we would otherwise use at the draft.

Let's remember: if he can't get a game for Richmond how well is he actually going?

my thoughts exactly!!

Maybe the reason he can't get a game is because he's one of the players already signed by Gold Coast and the coach knows????

In that case we wouldn't even have the option of going after him.

I agree. We definitely need more lazy and unaccountable players.

Real answer: this is club number two (all these issues were raised at club number one) and still the penny has not dropped with Mitch. Career over; talent wasted.

Dont understand why you would want to spend pick 100 on him if his not worth pick 50-90 then he shouldnt be on our list.

Attitude aside i think he could be a handy player, just not what we need.
