Jurrah update

This timeline is way off. LJ is still 4-5 weeks. That would see him potentially playing a half for Casey 2s when we're playing StK. Then this schedule gets going. I'd be hoping to see him back around Rnd 19.

Sorry to ruin the party.

That's ok.

By chance, did you happen to read the opening post of the thread and consider the OP way off, too ?

Before everyone gets excited, Mfc have made it clear that all the players must earn selection.

Possible timeline (speculative) for return:

Round 10 Geelong - NA

Round 11 Carlton - NA - maybe return in 2nds ? (June 5)

Round 12 Collingwood - in Casey 2nds/seniors ?(June 14)

mid year break - could play in Casey seniors again. (June ~19/20)

Round 13 Adelaide - in Casey seniors ? (June 27)

Round 14 St.Kilda - in Casey seniors ? (July 4)

Round 15 Essendon - I'd say (speculative guesstimate) this might be when Jurrah returns. At the G. Possibly the St.Kilda game a week earlier at Etihad if things have gone well.

OK, who is he going to replace? It can't be miller, watts, bennell, sylvia. Is Bate going to play in the same team as jurrah, watts, miller? What is our best forwards line set up?

I don't necessarily think it is a matter of who he is going to replace when right.

I think it would be more along the lines of who will make way for Jurrah on his return.

It could be anyone of the above that you've mentioned.

I'd say a fair majority of supporters would lean towards Miller. Certainly before the Dreamtime in Darwin game.

Our best forward line set up is very much a work in progress. But I would imagine something like this eventually: -

HF: Sylvia Watts Morton

F: Bennell Jurrah Bate

You can also rotate through Green, Davey, Trengove, Jetta, Dunn, Miller and others if need be.

Or this:

HF: Sylvia Morton Bate

F: Bennell Watts Jurrah

The more I think about it, the more I think we need a big body in there (ie a Miller type) to support the Morton's, Watts', LJ's and so fourth. I think play Sylvia off the bench or in the midfield and occasionally throw him forward to allow Bennell to run through the middle when he's fit enough.

FYI - Casey is now our VFL affiliate.

Really? Are you sure?

Man. I'm in the top ten for posts on the current incarnation of 'land, and somehow I missed we play at Casey now. Thanks for clearing that up.

I wouldn't be the first, and I won't be the last to let old habits die hard, captain obvious. And I changed it as soon as I saw it again, without your help.

Well yes, I did. Particularly in the light of recent posts where Max Gawn's apparently told someone at training he was a couple of weeks away from Casey and he's at 6-8 weeks on the injury report, I'm not putting much weight at all in the OP.

Noticed that too about Gawn. Point taken in that regard.

edit: However, I'll give J-Riv credit for his update; having been informed.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

The Demons were blown out of the water in the first quarter and clawed their way back into the contest but it was a case of too little too late as they lost another close one to Carlton losing by 1 point at the MCG.
