I am not predicitng he will be a superstar (a term overused) but pleasing to see Jack Fitzpatrick (201cm / 85 kg / utility) have a run in the Casey reserves and get some pretty decent plaudits too.

"Jack was a standout - he played really well. He kicked a couple of goals - they came from four goals down with ten minutes to go to win. Jack played a part in that because he kicked a goal himself, and then he went down back when they hit the front by a point and took a big mark. He certainly looks a likely prospect, but we’ll have to be patient at the moment because of all the tall forwards we’ve got. There’s no real rush with him, and if he keeps playing like that, hopefully his opportunity will come."

Yes its only Casey Reserves and I dont fully "understand because of all the tall forwards we’ve got" if you define tall in the modern game as over 194cm (Martin, Watts and who?) - but 201cm players who can play forward or back are pretty nice to have developing.

Noises out of the club seem to think that he is ahead of where they expected him to be. Given that we are weak in the 2nd ruck and tall forward areas he will have a chance to make the team if he can show good form at Casey seniors. Moves well for a big guy, let's just hope we don't have to wait until he's 26 before he finds good form.

I have had a couple of chats with Jack Fitzpatrick, at the AGM, the Family Day and at JO training, because of his Chronic Fatigue history they are very carefully montiroring his training loads etc, easing him back when need be, Alistair Lynch is actually mentoring him whenever he needs it which I think is cool of Lynch.

Was pleased as punch to be drafted, club are looking at him at steadily putting on muscle and weight again with going backwards, was given a run in the practice games just to have a look and see.

The VFL ressies is the nice measured start he needs to get a taste

Spoke to Chris Connolly about him and he loves the way we have drafted in the last couple of years, particularly the rookie and late picks and said if Jack can keep working the way he is, we will have another really good player.

In the meantime, he hasn't been selected to play anywhere this weekend after starring in the Casey reserves last week.

Anybody know why?

Don't know if he's injured or on a graduated RTW but he was only having goalkicking practice and missed the main training session this morning at the junction.

I was listening to the draft and one of the 'commentators' said he was surprised that JF was yet to be picked up by any club, he was expecting him to be picked up early in the draft... Then MFC picked him up at 50. I think he mentioned he had pretty handy skills.
