May not get the recognition of Scully and Trengove, but will be every bit as important to the success of our midfield as we go forward.

Yep, that was brilliant.

It's interesting to me that the club clearly knew what they had. When we delisted Valenti last year there were plenty of us wondering where we would get a hard tackling in-and-under type. And now we have a 19 yo who is just as good if not better in the tackling and ball-winning arena, but is fast around the ground and a great kick. No way we can complain about that.

Hard to believe that this guy is yet to see his 20th birthday.

I love the fact that he politely declined an offer from Adelaide, then volunteered to stay on the rookie list. That's commitment well beyond the call of duty. He must have also been pretty confident that he'd be able to work his way out of there to put his balls on the line like that.

Couple that with the fact that he's so aggressive with his attack on man on ball on the field, and seems to lack nothing in general skill, there's nothing not to love about him.

I'm a massive fan.

I haven't seen any footage of Jordy before he started playing with us, has he always been this, um- aged beyond his years (for lack of a better word). Did we develop him nicely or has he just blossomed? Deciding to stay with us says alot mateship and should put fears of anyone going to GC to bed- Adelaide was surely a more tasty prospect at the time, however IMO friendships formed at a club hold stronger bearing than paper bags of cash. Or, maybe he just wants a premiership!

He is doing what Macca is doing with only a handful of games under his belt. If he can continue to improve he is going to cause one mother of a headache for his opponents each week.

I have said this in other threads, but the truth is I have never seen a young kid tackle like this - ever!

Jordie may not have the fanfare of the Sculgove twins, but his rise has been a massive part in the dees engine room functioning in 2010.

He has shown commitment to he jumper by staying when he could have left. Huge Wraps!

Number 13 caught my eye against hawthorn in round 1-about the only thing that did on that day.

Jordie is a Gun-Fearless Energy. His goal was superb, Gun Barrell Straight.

Without Liam Jurrah's unfortunate injury we would not have seen Jordie Mckenzie play yet.

He took his chance & is not letting go. Jordie just might be the one setting the new high Standards at Melbourne.

It does prove also that even with GC 17 & GWS the MFC must still recruit the right players in years to come. Good Players will still be out there.

Does all the hard stuff you love to see in a player. Couragous, in and under and works incredibly hard. Seems to be matured years upon his age, hopefully will become a constant highlight in the red and blue.

I'm intotal agreement with everything you said there 'premiershipvigil', I think he is the most valuable of the young ones at this point.

And I reckon he probably is Rising star material.

So what happens if/when the injured player he replaced returns from the LTI? I think I remember something about being able to elevate one rookie mid-season regardless of injuries??? Is that still the case? Or was it ever the case?

And one thing I'm not 100% on in terms of LTI rookie elevations. Is it one for one? For example, if Jordie was elevated for Jurrah and Newton for Tapscott (not sure if that happened, but let's say it did), then would Jordie go back onto the rookie list when Jurrah returned and Newton when Tapscott returned? Or would it just be whoever we choose to keep as each player returned?

You can still elevate one rookie at mid-season, but even if you take Spencer & Newton into that equation Jordie wins hands down.

Not sure it's exactly "1-for-1" but considering there are, say, 3 long term injuries then we are able to elevate 3 rookies, but must drop one back when one of those injuries is declared fit to play. Jordie will be fine considering Tapscott won't be back before mid-season, nor Jurrah for that matter.
