How good was he on the weekend? Great return and a fantastic forward option for us while we wai on the returns of Aussie, Liam and Morton.

One question I have however, is did anyone see Colin Sylvia bump any specific player for a possible reportable offence on Sunday? I've been told by some idots at work that he will be cited for a big bump with his elbow on one of the Richmond players, however I was at the match and then watched the replay when I got home, and did not see anything bar the Moloney bump.

    It was Moloney's bump but the idiot commentators and news presenters on every station couldn't tell the difference between Stevie Wonder and a melbourne player.

    Sylvia must be given the opportunity to play full forward. He is a big mark, powerful runner, executes defensive pressure, can kick goals and excites the fans much like good ol' Jakovich.

    Syliva is our best option at full forward.

    Agree, one of the easiest - but he made it look easy, because he is all class. However unlike many, he converted very well and would have gained alot of touch and confidence coming back from his sickening injury. Could not have asked much more than that.

    He didn't have a huge challenge physically, because he is bigger and more talented than most of the Richmoond players who were out there on Sunday, but the mental challenge of going in hard at every contest after having suffered a broken jaw was embraced beautifully I thought.

    It took him a half to warm up, as you would expect, but he stood up physically when it counted, which was great to see.

    Plus he gives us a much needed forward target.

    Not sure I agree with that. He flew for pack marks, put his head over the ball, tackled hard and didn't shirk a contest ....... all in his first game for the season after a broken jaw. Hard to imagine that being easy!

    He just hits the ball with such aggression. He was motoring at full pace through a very crowded area, if anybody had dropped into the hole in front of them they were going off on a stretcher. Really, really exciting to see.

    Looks confident and has an air about him that suggests he could get better. Look forward to seeing it too.

    The dodging, weaving one? He was never going to miss that one. Called it before he even released the ball.

    It was a beauty, and I agree, not just any old player can pull that off.

    Ive been asking since his 2nd season for himn to be played as a deep forward, who can push into the midfield when needed.

    Its so obvious - the guy is phenomenal overhaed, has the strength of 12 men, is an amazing kick, has speed and will smash anyone in his way.

    Many more bags on the way for Col.

    A mate of mine (pies supporter) asked me after the collingwood loss who we were missing that could have been the difference. My answer was Colin Sylvia. My mate the stated "he would not make out best 22". I look forward to seeing him towards the end of the season to see if he can still back up this atrocity. I get the feeling he may feel like a bit of dick when Melbournes potential leading goal kicker cannot get a game ahead of Leigh Brown, Paul Medhurst and Leon Davis.

      Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

      I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

      The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
