Sitting in the Cheersquad area

Recommended Posts

I haven't been to an away on my own in quite a while, and given that it's against Collingwood i'm kind of keen to at least sit with my own kind. The last time i did this i sat with the Cheersquad at general admission prices, it was open slather until it filled up. Is this still the case or do i have to pay extra (which i don't mind) and should i pre-book them? Alternatively is there another "Melbourne" area to sit in? (other than the MCC!)

Thanks in advance.

I know there's always a designated area of seats reserved specially for the cheersquad, however i have sat in the vicinity for no extra charge in the past, i dunno perhaps it was just because it a relatively empty area anyway (depressing i know!).

I hold a reserve seat membership, i've always preferred sitting on the win and in the old red seat zone, i've longed for the days of them bringing the cheersquad back to the red seat area! Ah well, i'll play this weekend by ear and see how i go.

While I'm not an official cheersquaddie, I have always gotten in early and parked my butt directly behind for the last year or so, will probably get on board with the cheersquad membership in the future.

Can't say I haven't sneaked in once or twice depending on seat availability.. I remember the Adelaide game last year, we needed all the support we could get in that horrible atmosphere, so in I went. Much better to see a sea of flags rather than a handful. We should be waving a flag in each hand, double the colour!

I do the same thing. I've got to say, we've got the quietest cheer-squad in the League. So any voices that aren't raw need to get down there quick.

The Cheersquad area is a designated "Cheersquad members only" area. If you are occupying a seat that is reserved for Cheersquad members and you don't hold a Cheersquad membership you could be asked to leave the area, regardless of whether you are a MFC member or not. Wearing red & blue doesn't automatically entitle you to occupy a seat in that area.

Cheersquad membership is a $35 add-on to your normal membership. It enables you to sit with the Cheersquad at all games, including Etihad Stadium,Skilled Stadium & interstate venues (and finals games, if we participate!.)

Since I am an active Cheersquad member I wouldn't dream of sitting anywhere else and I think my $35 is well spent. As part of this years package we also get a very sturdy members-only poncho. Most importantly I feel like I'm doing something positive for my Club. We are the team behind the team and we need everyone to turn up to cheer our team on for a win.

Officially, we don't have enough seats if all our Cheersquad members turned up for this game, so remember if you're not a Cheersquad member you could be asked to leave

Our cheer squad is the worst thing about our club. Our cheer squad sucks. Half of them don't turn up anyway. But they are a bunch without much cheer.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
