Ball's Choice Collingwood or Essendon

Again, don't change tack from knowing that you haven't seen your club win a flag. I'm sure watching a news reel of your club's last flag doesn't play on your mind.

I personally love how Collingwood invokes a feeling amongst rival clubs in that they hate us more than they love their own club! Your sig is living proof!

Personally I love seeing losers posting on opposition forums trying to troll, you realise how sad their lives are when they resort to such pathetic actions. The facts are that the pies won their last almost two decades ago, so if you are old enough to remember it then that says even more about you.

I doubt that. Collingwood invokes a feeling amongst opposition fans in that their hate for Collingwood outweighs their love for their own club. 2 things can be deduced from that, Collingwood must be doing something right & their own club must be doing something wrong.

I used to hate Collingwood now I just pity them, they're always the Bridesmaid never the Bride, maybe they'll learn how to win a flag one day instead of finishing runner up but they, like you, will have to learn to lose the arrogance first.

Collingwood are no longer a Football Club they are a Marketing Brand like McDonalds, they lost their connection with the working class supporter years ago when they sold their soul to corporations.

Melbourne is a great club with a heart and soul and a real connection to their supporter base, that's something you can only dream of, we've got Jimmy, who have you got, Eddie McEgo? I know who I'd rather have and deep down you probably do too.

I'm sorry you feel that way.

Personally I would prefer to work with the Collingwood football club because I respect and feel we can learn from their business - professional approach to the modern day AFL game.

IMHO ... you are trying to evoke an old "80's type tribal way of thinking" ... I know some of us are past that and I'm sure your current administration is as well.

Best of luck for draft day.

You are dead set full of it.

I enjoy every loss you shocking people have but I won't go out of my way to see it.

I will sit through hours of my team being shocking. I will go to games hoping thay lose and hating it.

My utter loathing for your wretched club and miserable, egotistical, witless bogan army counts for nothing against my deevotion.

It is a true tragedy that every morning, no matter what you hope for, you will always wake up a filth merchant.

Troll.

Just had a listen to Barry Prendergast on 3AW and I would say there is no way he will pick Ball at 11, the interviewer tried to get him to admit it but he just danced around the question. I get the feeling however, that we will take him at 18 if he's still there but somehow don't think they'll be all that fussed if he's not.

Good ploy if we get him OK, if we force Essendon to take him at 10 that may free up someone like Melksham if he's still there, I believe we have some interest in him.

Barry is playing a straight bat to all the questions but did admit he's told the boys who will be one and two already.

Can we ask Essendon / Bears / pies for money to not select Ball? (Too late for players as payment). What about 'let us win and we won't select him'? Then we really win because we get a good young player with a lot more games in him, save $1m in 2 years, get some sort of extra payment and I don't have to spit whenever I see him in a Dees jumper.

Great clubs do not lie down in games/seasons on end to gain priority picks.

Collingwood certainly Laid Down in this years Preliminary though. After Half Time the pants were well & truly pulled down to the ankles.

Do enjoy Draft night on Thursday Old Xav....i will.

Enjoy making the prelim again next year Old Xav and maybe a final or two in '011 and '012 before dropping away into mid-ladder oblivion.

What Melbourne have done is called smart, ruthless management and it's going to result in the club producing a grand final dynasty that will

last 4 or 5 years and produce several premierships.

Football clubs are more than just what happens on the field.

But you wouldn't understand that would you?

The whole foundation & ethos of a football club is best represented by what occurs on the field.

If you have a culture of laying down to gain priority picks, you are developing a losing culture, that is why a club such as Carlton, with it's priority picks in Kruezer, Murphy & Gibbs aren't going anywhere but 7th or 8th. You can't magically turn on a switch & hope to be successful with the addition of some priority picks. In order for them to be successful, they have to come into an envrionment that seeks success every time they take the field. That isn't the case at Melbourne.

You do know your winning % in GF's don't you? Melbourne's is 75%. Please OX remind me, what is the C word's again?

From what i gathered by the interview Barry and the FD has pre determined certain players IF still there at pick 11 and 18 will be favoured ahead of Luke Ball

If they are not i would expect Ball to be the best available

That rules your mob out because they laid down back in 2005 with the result that they ended up with a priority draft pick and Pendelbury and Thomas.

WJ, 45hotgod16 beat me to it.

How did the egg hit you in the face TOX, "scrambled" or "sunny side up ?"

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
