Respect starts at home ... we will never get it from the whole football community if we dont start displaying it in our own back garden.

IMHO ... Its time around here we get rid of the negativity ... the glass is not half empty its half full.

Im sure I will get the normal "noise" back in my face. However, I'm calling for Demonland to take some leadership ...

I'm calling for restraint with regards to negative towards the Melbourne Football Club ... sure you can have an opinion but lets keep it constructive.

Nice sentiment but the problem I think is a lot deeper & more entrenched than that.

I think it's a lack of belief & confidence from supporters, in the club itself, which has been born & bred generation on generation, from lack of success. Too many poor Boards & administrations of the past has caused us to try to make things happen ourselves. Lack of confidence in the club.

We need tough administrators to ride through that stuff & remain confidant & keep the supporters informed honestly through the journey.

I believe this current administration is on the right track, & I for one believe in almost everything they've done so far.

I've spoken to others have have echoed that same belief in whats going on around the club.

The club said early in the year that we may need to make some hard calls that won't be too popular re the list & trading.

we know we have too many inside one paced mids so needed to trade to get a quality pick. Just like the TJ trade, this is important for our future. Just painfull.

I applaud the gist of this, but I think your aim is a bit off. I reckon 99% of posters here aren't inflammatory the way you're suggesting. Unfortunately the few that ARE angry represent a great deal more posts than they should. Add to that that once a new poster comes on and asks a simple question that's been covered, or when someone newish comes on and pledges support to the players no matter what, the old heads here tear them a new one.

It's a shame... Your criticism is actually aimed at that small group of jerks, not ALL of demonland, and certainly not the majority.

Very easy to find flaws in a team bottom of the ladder 2 years running with an ugly win/loss statistic. Forget the whole "rebuilding phase" and just focus on things you can hang sh!t on, constructive stuff, I can see the club improving already.

I am 'positive' up to a point. Don't know how much of my stuff you've read...

But I have little issue with Mono calling for Bailey's head half way through 2008.

He can say that, and I can call him an idiot.

It's the circle of life.

It's a forum involving the worst team in the AFL (RIchmond will be it soon), negativity is a given. Deal with it and disagree with what people say. And if they call you a [censored], turn the other cheek and know that they called you that because they don't have the grey matter to keep up.

BTW, no offence Mono. Just had that example on the top of my head.

IMO the reason the MFC hasn't won a premiership in the last 45 years is largely because of the way the club has been run in that period.For the longest time the MFC has competed in a professional environment(VFL and AFL) run by a bunch of amateurs.

The Gin and Tonic swilling ,Pheasant Hunters from past administrations who thought laying money out on the likes of "Diamond Jim" Tilbrook or one or two other "marquee" players would bring instant premierships to the MFC , brains' were clearly scrambled by the affects of too much cigar smoke! This type of thinking permeated through the club for quite a period and greatly lengthened our run of failure.(Purchasing Templeton and Moore was another example of this mind set)

Putting time and effort into your recruiting,development and club environment by rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty was certaintly not for these guys.

Fortunately our administration now comprises of Jimmy,Cameron,CC and other like minded people who seem to know what it takes to be successful and are not afraid of hard work or making some tough decisions.

A period of sustained success(inlcuding premierships) is very much on the cards for the MFC in the next period of our history IMO.

Nice post! I'm with you 100% As supporters if we want something ... first we must give!

I feel in my heart the "lack of belief & confidence" is waning ... lets not get derailed by the "noisy" minority. Lets be strong and stand together.

Must confess I would like to see this forum become a vehicle where our current administration can communicate with us in a open honest manner because collectively we have clearly demonstrated we can stand together above all the other AFL football forums online.

I dont expect them to share everything with us ... hell no ... but would like to think ... if they felt it was a benefit to share, they could use this forum without the "noisy" element distorting the message.

I accept your point and honestly not trying to pick on anyone ... instead suppose I'm just trying to bind us together in an open honest manner. Ultimately, we are all in this boat together, ultimately we all want the same objective ...

We have some brilliant minds on this forum ... way, way smarter than me. IMHO would much prefer we take the path of unity ... would hate to lose some of those "minds" for the wrong reasons.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
