good game by the saints, especially the hit Goddard did on Thomas. No Peddles,No Rocca not looking much chance vs the crows. Also loved the Dawson vs Rocca duel, won by Dawson

Dislike the Pies severely and think they copped the bum draw after losing last week to the Dogs by more than 24... Probably has cost them as I also believe they will struggle to beat the Crows next week. The Crows are a bloody good team. Dark horse for the flag?

I agree, Toot. It will be hilarious when Adelaide knock them out. How much did Didak, Davis and Shaw crumble today? Adelaide are a big chance for the flag.

Home ground advantage will play a big part in that semi final as well, not many teams win at skilled

I thought through the year that the Pies weren't as good as they thought they were. They got to top 4 thanks to being extremely well-coached & well-drilled by Malthouse so that half the time they don't need to think where to kick it, but above all to an extremely favourable draw, without which they would have struggled to make the 8.

They crumble under pressure (remember 2nd qtr QB against us?), and as soon as a decent team works out their game plan they have nothing left. They did OK not to get blown away by the Saints yesterday and by the Dogs in Rd 22, but both those sides had them well covered.

I thought weeks ago that the Blues & Pies weren't good enough to win a final. Having said that, Adelaide might not be as invincible in Melbourne against a team that might pressure them a bit, but it would still be a surprise if the Pies beat them.

Whilst I think Collingwood will beat Adelaide, it won't be easy, especially given that the Crows have 2 extra days rest in preparation. Plus their first final was physically less demanding than Collingwood's.

Oh how I pray for Adelaide to beat them.

With their away record, they could probably claimed they've been stooged by the draw.

the best bit is that after years and years of having a brilliant draw they get stooged by the afl and get a 6 day break to adelaides 8! i love it

Weren't stooged by the AFL, it was all their own work - what killed them was letting the Dogs get that last goal in Rd 22. That meant that they played the Saints instead of Geelong, they played on Sunday rather than Saturday, and they would play Adelaide rather than Brisbane or Carlton if they lost.

Correct. Collingwood cannot cry foul about the draw (as unfair as it may seem, giving the 5th team 2 more days than the 4th team) when they had their fate in their own hands.

I just hope it's a deciding factor in the result of the match.

Carlton and Collingwood out in straight sets

I,d like to see that :D

Looks very likely, the Crows have looked invincible for the past 2 weeks cementing me firmly on their bandwagon. I love aggressive attacking footy and not the "get a comfortable lead, then play keepings off" crap. GO CROWS!!

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
