Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Rumour around the Traps:

Where are all of these rumours stemming from? Boak and Pearce would be devastating losses for Port. I am not buying it.

Thats fine, you don't have to beleive it - and I understand that it is "silly season" so you'll hear all sorts of out there things.

But rest assured - all is not well at Port Adelaide. There is a MASSIVE divide in their playing group.

I realise that there are massive problems at Port which is reflected in their on-field turbulence. I am of the opinion that Williams is past his use by date, and that the players aren't 'with him' so to speak. I am not sure why you think the playing group is divided? You think that there is a division between those senior players who are united behind Williams and those who aren't? No idea why they offered him a 2 year contract, blatantly obvious that they need a breath of fresh air throughout the club.

Just on this. Last thing I'd want to do is add fuel to the fire. But I'll throw some kindling on anyway....

Observation: To me Tredrea has looked dis-interested or unhappy. Things haven't seemed right since Cassisi got the captaincy. back then there were some murmurings.

Just a thought in relation to the so-called 'massive divide.'

i don't want pearce at our footy club. he isn't hard enough at the contest. i'd prefer louis jetta to play a similar role than what pearce would. definately chase boak. the benefit of having the first pick in the pre season draft is that you can use it as leverage to get a deal in your favour, or better still get him for free. pick 34, bell and jamar for boak. done

Correct.

Although if I was Port... I would choof him off. He's too long in the tooth at Port and I dont think a number of the senior players are that united behind him.

Me too...all a bit incestuous for their own good if you ask me. But will they bring in outsiders ?? This ought to be easy but they are stuggling with this. Adelaide and Perth...they like their own lads.. Inbreeding lowers teh gene pool....dont they know this

True. Perhaps Rivers or Jamar instead.

The matter is noted. ;)

What is your hard on for Rivers? He has just started to get back to match fitness and you want to trade him? Rivers will be a premiership player one day - either with us or with someone else - and I'd like to see it in the red and blue.

My 'hard on' for Rivers? Care to re-phrase that...

If T.Boak or D.Pearce rumours are true, and if they are out of contract and looking for a new club my first preference would be the PSD :)

However, if Port only want to trade for picks clubs might have to make a deal. We're basically all just speculating. But it has been noted many times through this forum that we seem to have an established structure of the backline with plentiful options. Rivers is the oldest of the backline, he has had injury problems. I have nothing against him. Actually I think he is a fine defender. But when you weigh up the midfield and the problems that need to be addressed it can be a juggling act. With Garland to return next year and the development of Cheney, Bennell, McNamara, Martin, Frawley, Warnock who are all younger and have upside, why not look at strengthening the midfield with a Boak on top of the likes of Scully & Trangove through the draft?

Something to consider anyway. It might or might not happen. The bottom line is strengthening the list. That would be the priority task our FD faces.

There have been numerous assessment of Rivers strengths and limitations. While many d'landers are besotted by him, his lack of pace and his questionable disposal limit the range of positions and players he can play on.

He competes in a backline where we have young and capable defenders like Warnock, Frawley, Garland, Martin who I think will only get better. I think that group forms the nucleus of our defence for the future. Rivers is the only one on the list whom I consider could be surplus to our needs and may have some currency with sides who are short on defenders.

am essentially with you there HT.. Happy to consider trades..even for Jared. Why not ? I think he's peaked personally and as such has limited upside growth. others coming in will probably have more.. As you say The bottom line is strengthening the list....thats what its all about.

Thing with Jared Rivers is that in a good side he could easily fill the Tom Harley role.

But sadly, I think to a lesser effect

In a sense I think Id rather trade out the Rivers we have...get some value and essentialkly grow a new one ( if that makes any sense ) i.e develop a younger lad into a similar style and role with added advantage of more games ahead and possible better body management from the outset.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
