The Blues have a top 4 spot to play for. They'll be relieved to be playing us, and have obviously been more inconsistent... But a loss will be FAR more detrimental to their year.

The same could have been said about Port Power some weeks ago.

Carlton are more likely to win.

We just smashed the buggery out of the biggest joke of a midfield in the league. It was a great win, but let's not kid ourselves, there will be no such luxury next week. It would take our absolute best and their absolute worst for that to happen. I'm sure there's plenty of 'experimenting' that can be done should we be in any danger of winning next week.

I'd think Carlton having had a good win would be more in danger of underestimating us and slipping up.

St. Kilda after a recent loss would not be a side I'd want to go up against - whoever they have next week will likely get pulled apart like soft bread.

I love the way our rotations for the previous two weeks were around 50, yet today we were up around 100.

Yep, fair enough if Freo win, (which I doubt) that would solidify the first pick for us.

But if we draw or beat carlton, we lose the priority pick.

Today was good so I can put up with two more losses then bring on Scully and others and then 2010. It was good for all those young boys out there to get the feeling of a win and all that brings. Hopefully next year more supporters will at least turn up. Absolutely pathetic supporters. It was embarassing.

No point even discussing St. Kilda. There's a few pretty good reasons why they're first and we're last.

To be honest, I enjoyed putting the PP out of my mind and enjoying footy properly again today. I barracked hard for a win and we belted them; this meant far more to me than the hollow win against Port, which just left me feeling sick. I could've gone a few more days before anyone mentioned the PP again.

So did I, barracked for the boys & our win today, it feels good.

But I'm not gunna celebrate the priority pick untill it's in the bag, sorry, but for me your sensativity to this is a bit soft, in the scheme of the hardship the clubs longest term supporters have endured. your few more days are very trivial indeed.

But : If we beat Carlton with all their priority picks and first round offers , plus the house that Dick bought (Judd), then why would we need PP.

Just somehow it would be well worth it!!!

With St Kilda losing today, they have very little incentive in Round 22, other than to protect themselves for the first week of the finals. Had they won today, they probably would have been playing us in round 22 to win the all-time record of 22 straight.

We beat the 15th side and all of a sudden we can beat 1 & 5.

We will get thumped by both Carlton and StKilda. The most important thing heading into a finals campaign is form...StKilda losing today is marvelous they will be desperate to not taper off heading into September, Carlton have top 4 at stake - enough said. Scully and (Insert name of draft pick # 2 here) are ours.

What we are capable of depends on the players that are selected for that particular game, X the opposition team, as you would know.

We are quite capable given a bit of a sniff, if carlton lower their guard, it could be game over.

lol... some peple are obviously incapable of seeing beyond the nose on their face. The MFC ( for a change ) know only too well exactly whatis required to go forward. They know we need these top picks to bolster our list and set us up. Theyalso know the club, supporters and indeed players need a win to remind themsleves of whatthis is all about. And so we took a win when we could. And by that I mean ..against an oppostion we were clearly able to best ,and more importanltly really at a time we could afford to. Now the rest of the year wil play itself out. Carlton are playing to for a top 4 spot. StKilda need to restore that momentum going in to september.

The scenario here is wildly different though. St. Kilda may not have any incentive to win (and that's extremely debatable), but Carlton that year had a very big incentive to lose.

To be honest, I can't see them wanting to do anything other than smash us in to oblivion in round 22, which they should rightfully do.
