We should treat our last 4 games no different to how every other club treats the NAB cup!

There is nothing wrong, unethical or against the sprit of the game for our club to treat our last four games any different to how every other club treats the nab cup, that means we have the right to play players who are on the chopping block to see what they have got (remembering we have to cull at least 5 players), we can rest anyone who is sore/injured, we can play players out of position. Every club would do the same and it does not take away from the fact that we are Melbourne the oldest and greatest club in AFL history! 2010 started 7 weeks ago when our finals hopes this year were mathematically over

Could not agree more!

The fact of the matter is, apart from maybe Warnock and Frawley forward, I have seen most of the players / positions before.

McDonald has played back before, Johnson has played CHB before, Miller has taken centre bounces before etc etc, so the excitement over players being out of position is a bit over the top.

And when you actually look at what both Johnson and Newton had delivered in the forward line for most of the game, it was sweet stuff all!

Warnock and Frawley actually provided a contest, whereas the other two were irrelevent all game!

Great OP, and every post in this thread has been right on the money. As DB (I think) said in May, there would be lots of experimentation this year, especially towards the end. He's had to be a lot more creative because of our terrible run with injuries for the past few games, and then during the game on Sunday. We've learned a lot about many players in that time that will be very useful to carry forward.

Couldn't agree more we have been the whipping boys of the AFL for as long as I can remember with getting Sunday games year in year out, not helping us with major sponsorship deals like they did with the Mission and Luxbet Deals ect...

This is our chance to get something off the AFL. If we don’t I think we have blown a big chance to get something all our fans have been hanging for for the last 25years an A GRADE Midfielder someone who we can "hopefully" say in 3-5 years might be in the top 5 players in the AFL. Something I’ve never been able to say.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
