Casey Demons Launch

Dear Melbourne Supporters,

I am the president of the recently formed Casey Demons Supporter group and we are thrilled that the Melbourne Football Club has signed a 30 year deal with the council and the Scorpions to use Casey Fields as its training facility and home base.

We have organised an official launch breakfast with the assistance and support of the MFC and the details are enclosed. We hope that you will attend this inaugural event and possibly even join the Casey Demons at a small introductory annual cost of $5.

We will be organising events in the City of Casey before and during the football season where you will be given the chance to interact with Melbourne players and officials. You will no longer have to drive into the city for an autograph or a photo with your favourite player because we'll make sure that you have every opportunity locally.

The Melbourne Football Club is just as excited as we are and are overjoyed about having a base they can call home, something that has been missing since 1985 when they moved from the MCG.

They are genuinely keen to meet with their Casey supporters and have given the Casey Demons Supporter Group their wholehearted support which we greatly appreciate.

If you would like to attend the breakfast or join our Supporter group you can phone me on 0408539886 or 03 59985228. Alternatively, you may prefer to email me at [email protected]

Kind Regards and Go Dees!

Lisa Schreurs

PS We would like to invite 6 past players to attend at our expense so please phone me if you'd like to be there. I have only two acceptances so far, not counting Jim Stynes and Chris Connolly.

WEDNESDAY 8 JULY, 7 AM – 9 AM

SETTLEMENT HOTEL, CRANBOURNE

CNR SOUTH GIPPSLAND HWY & CAMMS RD

Join our President, Jim Stynes, to launch the Casey Demons supporter group in Cranbourne.

With the ink still drying on the Melbourne Football Club's new 30-year agreement with the City of Casey, our supporters in the region will have many opportunities to become closely involved with the Club.

Other speakers include GM Football, Chris Connolly, and Community Manager, Debbie Lee. All will provide an invaluable insight into our club's commitment to the Casey community.

PRICE: $50 per head, $450 for a table of 10

FOOD: Full breakfast included

BOOKINGS: Contact Lisa Schreurs

PHONE: (03) 5998 5228 or 0408 539 886

Hi Lisa... all of us at Demonland support the Casey Demons and will happily promote your activities as much as we can.

WJ has even joined the social club down at Casey so I'm sure he'll personally support the CD's. There are a few others around here in the same boat.

So good luck and cheers!

Sorry will be up at Buller then!

But I'll be back for the weekend to watch the dees!

Hi Lisa, great to see a new supporter group getting underway, wishing you all the best. :)

You might not get a large number of responses to this site because it's heavily populated by people who are either out of Melbourne but dedicated to keeping informed, or people who are in town and keep themselves informed anyway.

But I will say to everyone in Melbourne - get along to the opening of the Casey Demons supporter group! Let's make them feel welcome and be there at the start so we can feel good watching it grow!

Fantastic news. This is an exciting venture for the Club and It's good to see there is support behind it!

I wont be able to make it up but all the best with the launch. Go Dees.

I'd love to be a part of it, PM me the details.

Just please don't have a username that has 1958 in it

Are we going to be the Demons or Scorpions?

Thanks to everyone for your support and enthusiasm. I've already had a booking this morning from someone who read about the breakfast in this forum.

In hindsight, it was foolish of a Melbourne supporter to use 1958 in her user name.

All the best Lisa sounds like a great thing for the club, we need all the support we can get. Unfortunately I'm working at that time so I wont be able to attend.

Thanks J-Riv. I am really excited about our new supporter group and I am pleased to announce that we have 103 attending to date. We can accept 250 bookings so I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can achieve that.

Thanks, dee-luded,

I love the Demons and I have been a member since I was 5 which is a hell of a long time ago. My husband and I go to almost every match including the interstate games so we are very committed to the Dees which can be hard at times. Our children and grandchildren are all Demons supporters and they share my passion so it means a lot to me that the Casey Demons are successful.

Hi Dane, Trident and others,

I will be eager to tell you all about the breakfast and I will definitely let you know when we're holding functions. We sent out 650 flyers to Casey Demon supporters today so I am sure that we'll pack the Settlement Hotel!

I will be a certainty Lisa1958. I will be in touch!!

Thanks HT. I am excited and nervous at the same time. We have great representation from the local press attending so we should get plenty of publicity. Let's hope it's all good!

Hi Lisa

Attended the launch this morning and it was fabulous. Well done - I think this is the start of a really proactive and vibrant group. Well done!

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
