Brent Moloney

Hi,

Noticed Brent Moloney grab his lower leg/hamstring late in the last quarter. He tried to run it out by sprinting toward the forward flank (not smart). He was in obvious pan after that and he wont play next week. So I ask what to do now?

Do I need my eyes tested? why would I make that up?

To reiterate Brent Molony has injured his hamstring and wont play next week

It's MOLONEY

Sorry It's just his name gets spelt wrong so often. To answer your question maybe Brad Green will be back next week?

your post makes an assumption between what you saw and whether he will miss games or not. can you diagnose his injury? was it a cramp after playing a tough game for 4 quarters?

when the club says he will miss, then everyone will agree he will miss.

until then most people will preface their responses with 'if true'.

IF TRUE, and i reiterate IF TRUE, there will be no problem replacing him. More time int he guts for Valenti who the coach said they want to try over the next few weeks. Bennell will be back next week so problem solved.

Bring in Bennell or Jetta. Maybe Jamar?

Rest Moloney if any doubt.. Drop Dunn. Consider Jetta for Maric.

Please oh PLEASE don't be injured Beamer!!! :(

He is injured mate he clearly grabbed at his hamstring and grimaced . And just for good measure if you think Brock Mclean is injury free then think again. His ankle has never been right since his injury. He is slower than he was and I can understand the comment about his match fitness but he is clearly impeded. However we shall wait and see if "The club says he will miss". Again if you think what the club says is gospel then you are just incorrect because every player plays with niggles, bruises and bumps every week. He may come up for next week but play sore and the question will be then is it going to do him more damage than good.

Well we played small this week and will need taller players against the Hawks due to their forward line so if ther was only to be one change I'd say Rivers in for Moloney. Our other midfielders can pick up the slack. Another option is Bell. Can play midfield and play tall or small in defence?

Take a breath, mate.

And yes, I will listen to the club before I take the word of some poster on 'Land who is only going on Moloney clutching his hamstring.

Bateman 'did' his hamstring last year, according to commentators, and came back on 15 mins later because it was cramp...

I like how you try to "back up" your claims by mentioning that McLean is clearly not right from his ankle injury. As far as I can remember McLean has ALWAYS been slow. When I see Moloney on the injury list and out of the side then I'll believe what you have to say.

Nooooooooooooooooooo please don`t be true.

He is injured mate he clearly grabbed at his hamstring and grimaced .

Even if he did incur an injury it does not mean he will miss next week, as you admitted in a later post.

As others have said, I imagine Valenti will be given more opportunities if Moloney does miss.

Ive been checking all injury lists and no mention of beamer...

Do you have a "possibly" injured list somewhere you can reference too?

Now THAT is funny! :D

Quite clearly inaccurate!!

Not true, well some of it anyway, he could have had some pain and grabbed it, but yes, he played so he was wrong about the not playing bit.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
