Why did we wear our clash jumper again yesterday? Our traditional strip should be worn as much as possible. Surely it doesn't clash with the West Coast jumper.

We need to stand up a bit more and only wear it in our away games against Carlton, Essendon, Bulldogs and maybe Port Power.

We will wear our traditional strip this week. The Bullies will in no doubt wear the all-white.

The AFL are extremely sensitive about any clashes with teams. The problem is that the AFL have allowed teams like Adelaide, West Coast and Fremantle to bring in or change their jumper designs which clearly clash with other teams such as Melbourne.

The AFL created the problem and now the clubs are paying for it.

I'd really like for the MFC to play in the traditional MFC guernsey. There are 'reasons' why this doesn't occur. Doesn't make it any more palatable.

I might be in the minority, but i actually thought it looked alright. Of course i prefer the traditional home guernsey, but the red clash jumper is in no way a disgrace (unlike that thing we wore last season)...

Agree its better than that silver abomination. But it doesn't clash with the WCE jumper and we need to push back on the AFL from time to time. The only good thing about Collingwood is that they don't get pushed around.

Occassionally I'd like to see them shoved a little, to get their nose out of joint.

I thought it looked good, but like most people I prefer we stick with the traditional jumper. Have no problem wearing something different for 2-3 games a year as long as it's red and blue.

It's a non-issue, both our alternative strips are fine.

And I still remember when Miller tackled Whelan at Optus Oval about 5 years ago.

Never thought I'd be happy with an alternative strip but this one's pretty good. Wearing at our interstate games seems like common sense from the club. One question though, What's going to happen when we play a home game against Essendon? (Hasn't happened for awhile as the AFL tightened the screws on struggling cllubs) What I don't want to see happen is the club buckling the way North has with Collingwood.

I think it's awesome, helps attract the new generation supporter to the club.

I'm watching Collingwood v St Kilda and I reckon there's more of a clash with Collingwood when the Saints wear their clash jumper.

Can't say I agree, there's a fair distinction...though I think the Saints jumper looks ridiculous.

They should've worn this against Port, I couldn't tell them apart a few weeks ago

The issue with St Kilda's regular guernsey when playing Collingwood is the back of the jumper. Both jumpers have black backgrounds with white numbers, and there is a definite clash there. I'm watching the game tonight also, i'm not sure where the clash u see with their alt strip is?

The jumper aint gonna be the difference between a win and a loss.

Every other pro sport in the world has alternative strips.

I can't see any reason for clubs to wear clash jumpers when there's hardly any clash to start with. For instance, we could have easily worn our own traditional jumper against the Eagles on Sunday. The AFL is taking the whole issue to ridiculous extremes and St. Kilda's jumper last night was stupide. The worst of it all was Norf's against Collingwood the week before.

Are we talking about whether the jumper looks good or whether there is a need to wear it against a team? St.Kilda's jumper looked poor but assisted in distinguishing between the dark team and the light team. The other way you could tell was that if the team was hitting targets and kicking goals, it was St.Kilda!

I maintain that our red clash jumper looks good, and I prefer wearing the traditional jumper, but there is a clash between our traditional jumper and Carlton, Essendon, and the Port, Adelaide, Fremantle and Eagles Home Jumpers. If we wear our white clash jumper against Essendon I won't mind because it 's an away game, it looks good, and clearly distinguishes the two teams. No excuses for hitting the wrong target or a miller-whelan style tackle!
