Hannabal, i'm not joking. It would be great to see Stef play on Aka, he could hold him right out of the contest. Martin plays well on shorter opponents. I don't think there is much height to contend with at all, unless Minson goes forward for some of the game.

Minson does, and will, go forward. That's about the only thing Minson is capable of.

I certainly cannot see Martin going to Aker. The speed is a big issue.

We certainly lacked a bit of chase and forward line pressure against the Eagles, so I'd like to see Jetta given another run, but in place of whom? Maric clearly played his most promising game of his short career thus far. Robbo is an automatica starter (but probably has to do more this week, something like a bag of 5 or 6).

As for the defensive half, it's a pity Frawley got injured, as his height (although not a factor against a smallish Bulldog forwardline) and mobility would have been extremely handy. I'd expect Cheney to come in this week as well.

I'd definitely drop Bate, as his chasing the other day was non exsistent and he didn't seem particularly interested at all. Furthermore, even though Sylvia played in patches the other day, as a 6 year player should be starting to play consistant football, rather than in patches, so I'd give him a run in the 2s as well (perhaps a direct swap for Jetta?).

outs: frawley and rivers

ins: cheney and newton

would like newton to have had one more week of goal kicking practice but hopefully he used the time he had off for this.

dunn has a great opportunity to tag a gilbee type from the half forward and hurt them with a goal or three.

if cheney doesnt perform, belly will be back and id rather he just pressed for a spot to keep people on their toes.

i think i may cop a belting for this one but here are my in's and out's for this week

IN - Cheney, Whelan, Jetta

OUT - Mcdonald (capt), Rivers, Frawley

I think the only thing that Junior can hang his hat on this season is that he is the captain. He will be exploited this week with his lack of leg speed and i think he is just about done as an AFL player. Has been a fantastic servant for our club but its now time to move further on from the Daniher era. No need for another tall defender as the doggies are not tall in their forward line.

I don't agree with the Macca decision, as we still need onfield leadership, but Wheels should definitely come back in. I'd forgotten him, but he's one of my favourites and was solid against Coburg two weeks ago. His grunt will be a handy addition to the backhalf. He'd have to be one of our best tacklers wouldn't he?

As for Belly, he's not horrible, but I don't think he's quite good enough.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
