Outside Victoria (at least, in Tassie) all the free-to-air games are direct telecast.

Tassie is no threat to the Gate Takings. They want you guys to see it live, so you won't walk off & do something else. The ad breaks are then dictated by the play.

With a delayed telecast a station can pump as many ads in as they want-even to the point of shortening the game. Rare but has been done.

Grand Finals now you will notice the ads begin as the ball is travelling through the goals. No more Goal umps signalling.

This is all due to the exhorbetant money paid for the last rights, & it is going to get worse.

The AFL is paid close to a BILLION DOLLARS & Victorian clubs are left with these pitiful stadium deals still. Total Disgrace, & the Bastards get away with it which is even worse.

Thank you for putting those brackets in. SA is disgraced by its free-to-air coverage. I will expand on this in a minute.

I have to say that I was initally surprised to hear that Seven's farce of an attempt at coverage is of a similar standard in Victoria as it is here in SA. Having had a minute to think about it while reading the other responses, I guess it doesn't and shouldn't surprise me. They are a complete and utter disgrace. Also, please remember that SA is 30 minutes behind the homeland of MFC, thus Sunday games become an hour-and-a-half delayed, and by the final siren (at 5:59.59pm) it is closer to two-and-a-half hours behind. There is no comparison to FOXTEL's coverage. Full pre- and post-match analysis on their live games and full replays of every game, uninterupted during the quarters. iQ is marvellous. The fact that I cannot wait 6 hours to watch the MFC play a match on a Sunday is the only reason I force myself to watch Seven - because it's the earliest I am able to watch my team.

In SA we also have the extra factor that all games from 'our' two 'teams' are shown and this just royally buggers up things for the rest of us. With free-to-air and FOXTEL you can generally watch all eight matches either live or at least somewhat close to live (with Seven's Sunday arvo game being the largest discrepency) but if the Cows or Powa are playing say, in the FOX timeslot of the Sunday twilight match, then we get that match live on both Fox and on Seven. Like on Saturday night we had the situation where the 'Showdown' was live on both Fox and Ten, and the Bombers - Lions match was not shown until 11pm that night on Fox I believe. Does this ever occur in Vic?

I wish Fox could have every game. And Clinton Grybas was still around to call them.

Blame the AFL for the SA and WA stuff up. They were so paranoid about getting good coverage for QLD and NSW that they stuffed up when it came to looking after SA and WA residents.

If the Lions game is on Fox 1 and Ten in QLD, then they get the other game on Fox Sports +. Doesnt happen for anyone else!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
