Where will Bell eeee fit in?

Wont play another game for the MFC.

Delisted at years end.

When did Bell break his thumb?

They still don't know when Wonaeamirri will be back, hope it's only 2 weeks or something.

But Yze_Magic has a point, I don't think Bell has a spot in the team anymore.

Paul still has some to offer i think. Jamar is gone though.

strauss :(

i really want to see this kid play.

He seems to be strggling to string games togegther due to injurys.

Dissapointing

Maybe he should go on the same program as Watts and Blease this year, to get his body tuned in better

MELBOURNE

James McDonald (hamstring) - available

Austin Wonaeamirri (hamstring) - test

Rohan Bail (knee) - test

Daniel Bell (broken thumb) - test

Simon Buckley (groin) - test

James Strauss (shoulder) - 2 weeks

Mark Jamar (foot stress fracture) - 3 weeks

Paul Wheatley (quad) - 4 weeks

Brad Green (fractured jaw) - 4-6 weeks

Colin Garland (foot) - indefinite

That is only 5 players which are injuried which means we have a pretty fit list. Although on that list we need Brad Green and we can back up for Wheatley,Garland and Jamar even though they are good players. So you can see Bailey I think has created a bit more depth in our list. Well at least in the backline.

Depth is not the issue. Its developing quality and hopefully developing some stars. The gap between our best 5 and those in the 26 to 30 category is too close. There is not much gap at all between 16th and 30th on our list. We need to develop A graders.

Matthew Whelan??

Did Cheney play at Casey last week?

Cheney didn't play for Casey but isn't injured. He was the designated emergency not to play for Casey in case of a late withdraw for Melbourne according to K. O'Donnell. Expect to see Cheney playing for Casey this week.

I love Whelan and want him back in the side but will be difficult for him. Bartram, Cheney and Bennell are all competing against him for his position as the small defender.

Yes I know that, but although in 2006 I noticed when we lost Pickett,Johnstone and Davey we lost to Carlton and had a late season slump, and we missed the 4. So depth can be important no matter where you are on the ladder. But I am aware of the need to develop A grade players. I just want a star that will become a champion, because I`m so sick of hearing Melbourne have no Champions, which is partly true at the moment. I tell people David Neitz was a champion, but they say "Yeah right, only kicked 631 goals, useless like the rest of the team."

MELBOURNE:

Average number of players missing per round: 12

Total number of matches missed by listed players: 46

Although external expectations were not high for Melbourne this year, the Demons have again had to deal with injury woes after a healthy list pre-season. Only Hawthorn and the Swans have had more players miss matches so far.

As bad as that sounds its also possitive in the way

that we have more young tallent to come into the side.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
