Who wanted to win today?

Despite being an early adopter of the "list management" strategy for this year, I did.

I'll also take Queen's Birthday, one of the Geelong games, and a toss up between round 18 vs Richmond or round 21 vs Carlton to help one of them to 9th place.

I love a good priority pick as much as anyone, but today's game was one of only a handful where we actually had a chance of winning, so yes, I was very keen for a victory.

It's nice for the young boys, and in fact for the whole team, to get a reward early in the season and a bit of a boost. It validates their hard work, and it gives supporters hope.

From here on in, we have a very tough run of games and the possibility of winning before the mid-season break is slim. So enjoy today, and cherish it. It's going to be a long while before we get to celebrate another win.

Perfect time for a win.

Gets the monkey off our back, keeps all media focus firmly on richmond and freo.

We needed a early win to get the membership tally up to 30,000.

I'm all for the 'list managment' approach too, but we really do have a fairly harsh run for awhile.

Hooley Dooley. We're in for a rough one. Even the Eagles match will be tricky. Without Green against the Crows, even at the G, will be a tough one too. The others, forget about it.

For mine, I was starting to get prickly at the suggestion we wouldn't win a game. Now with that taken care of, the people who opened their big traps (Newman, BT etc etc) will now look like prize gooses having been proven wrong within a week. The current 22 deserved a win as their endeavour over recent weeks (for the most part) has been top-notch. A few ugly injuries, as well as some horrible skills have contributed to their troubles.

Hopefully this plays us into some confidence. Particularly guys like Sylvia who surely now must notice that when they put in, they not only get results, but they can be largely responsible for a win.

I reckon we'll all be happy if they're competitive every game from here on - even if we lose them all. Although, I would have been devastated if they had lost yesterday's game in the last 5 minutes.

Looking at the fixture, I can only see another 2 wins - maybe 3.

Agree. When I saw Jimma mark the ball in the cheer squad after the goal, full of emotion in front of 40,100 -odd. (which should of been 48,000 if Richmond supporters were fair dinkum) I thought, we'll win this.

Loved it when Rivers sledged a toiger for squibbing it too.

I think we're a good chance against the Crows at the 'G. We beat them in the 2007 season.

We will smash the Crows.

Yes, we will easily beat the crows from coming off a great win. Our fans will be in full voice next Sunday, the Boys will be working hard and playing like we did against the Tigers. I reckon we'll beat Hawthorn in Round 9 as well.

I'm sorry, but did anyone actually see Adelaide play last Saturday night? I've a strange feeling we'll be right back down to Earth in a week's time. That's not to say I don't want us to win, though.

They are coming on to our home turf.

We will smash them from he get go.

With a rejuvenated Moloney, Sylvia , McLean and Jones, the Crows wont know what hit them.

I more than anyone love a high pick especially pick 1 and 2 if we dont win more than 4 games. BUT I think so much came out of the win today. I personally forgot how good the feeling was when we win. all the players needed and lift and need to know how good it is when we win. The clubs spirits will be higher and the younger players now will have even more drive to be succesfull. In saying this we still wont win 5 games this year. But after the match i realised a win for the boys was definantly a good thing. GO deess

We're only 1 win out of the 8...

And only one behind those "certain finalists" the Carltankers.

They have to come over here this time . Big show this week.

A bit of a show against Adelaide.

Me? I want to do the Dogs.

That's a mission statement.

If we lose a priority pic so be it - winning is what counts. I "barracked" against us round 22 a few years back for the Sylvia/McLean double. It's a rotten feeling.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
