Surely we must hear something soon? We were told at the debt demolition lunch that it wasn't far off.. I dont know whats going to be put together first the Monash Fwy or the Casey deal! Hurry up already.

Yeah I know announce it already. Not a major issue though.

Im just keen to find out more about it. They mentioned at the AGM that It was taking so long because the deal just kept getting better for both parties. I've also heard Connolly saying this deal is going to improve a lot of things at the club.

Not a major issue? I think it's massive in terms of the future viablity and success of the club. It's a major turning point in the club's history.

While we have heard nothing in recent times, there have been 2 major movements in the conditions since this was first talked about.

1. The MFC is now part of the MCC...so things like who pays the bills, who leases buildings etc may have had to be rejigged..

2. The AFL has mooted a new feeder competition for the East Coast. So what happens to the VFL?. What happens to the relationship between the Scorpions and the MFC into the future?

The fact that the MFC is training at Casey and that our players are representing the Scorpions is positive. It's just the business dealings into the future will have had to have been reworked.

I wouldn't think being part of the mcc would change much? do you know this for a fact or is this your opinion?

Sorry, Long term it is a major issue, Right now it isn`t a major issue. I agree with you though because this could well define the turning point in our club. I think they will annouce it soon, they just are taking their time like they did with the major sponsors.

Hopefully we can gain around 8-10,000 new supporters in the Casey region and right now we have about 18,000 absolutely loyal supporters right now, including another 12,000 supporters who are on and off the support wagon. So we have around 30,000 supporters who either support our club through thick and thin or supporters who just go when we are winning, Now if we can get 8-10,000 new supporters that would buy memberships and attend games then that could bring our membership up around the 40,000 mark and increase our Home game attendances. It will also Increase our support base in Australia and hopefully our loyal base, and also if we are winning games in 2 to 3 years time the bandwagon supporters will come on board giving us a bit more support.

I agree. As a club we can potentially be a bigger team in coming years.

As long as we can gradually raise our membership and the Casey fan base holds and our youngsters develop and win games our membership could eventually reach 40,000.

I thought the Dees should have hurried up and signed the deal last year - before the change in council due to the elections. Since then, the local papers are reporting that the cost to date of the clean up at Brookland Greens is $20m and rising, and the council is shelving projects right, left and centre, including some projects which were previously a 'done deal', in order to find the money. The Dees also have to deal with a bunch of new councillors, who may or may not have different opinions to the previous councillors.

However, having said that, maybe the Dees don't need the same amount spent now anyway. Due to the improved relationship with the MCC, perhaps they won't need to find space elsewhere? Maybe they only need a training ground, and they don't need to deal with the council for that - only the Scorpions.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
