iv'a worn smith 1,979 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 I was hoping the win might have kicked this along a bit more. Hopefully we will; have it by the end of the week.
H_T 3,049 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 1. Hawthorn 50,307 2. Adelaide 48,720 3. West Coast 47,728 4. Collingwood 43,465 5. Carlton 38,820 6. Essendon 38,351 7. Richmond 36,248 8. Geelong 34,381 9. Melbourne 29,706 10. St Kilda 29,012 11. Western Bulldogs 27,826 12. North Melbourne 27,657 13. Port Adelaide 27,503 14. Brisbane 24,897 15. Fremantle ? TBA 16. Sydney ? TBA edit:- *Note: All data from AFL club websites, except Essendon, West Coast to the best of my knowledge. Any updated info on any of the teams, please post it. Especially figures concerning Freo & Sydney which I haven't been able to get just yet. Game Day/match day figures are a little confusing at some clubs.......any info on certain clubs......feel free to post. Cheers. I'll update it as the cut off approaches. I'm hoping we knock off the Saints who have been closing in on us of late. With two home games against Adelaide and Geelong coming, we should push through the 30,000 barrier comfortably.
Dee*ceiving 1,738 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Man it will look good when it ticks past 30,000. Fremantles will most likely be well about 30,000 but last i heard the Swans were languishing around the 17,000 mark. The Saints under 30,000 surprises me, particularly considering their start to the season. How fresh is this data?
olgreydingo 51 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 GO MFC. We can and will be a power. Loose the 4WD and snow season tag. Well done Jimmy and the team.
titan_uranus 25,266 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Jeepers, the Saints and Dogs are having trouble aren't they? Preliminary finals, yet neither is at 30,000 yet. Meanwhile delusional Carlton supporters are signing up in droves. Tata Bang Goal makes a good point though: where'd you get this data from HT?
Sir Why You Little 37,492 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Only 5000 less than Geelong? Ime guessing Geelong are at that level because their stadium is so small so it would be hard for even members to get a seat.

Fresher than freshly shucked oysters....- from clubs respective websites which are kept up to date (I'm sure, if they're updating anywhere near as frequent as the mighty Dees seem to be doing). Got Bombers figure from over at 'Corn Fields.'

Rhino Richards 1,467 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 What is the total membership dollars extracted for each Club? We focus so much on the hard numbers of members without looking at the type of membership they are taking out. They are important but not the sole measure of membership Put another way, how many $50 paying members do other Clubs have compared to MFC? Also how many of the members are premium or coterie members? It interesting NM had 40+k last year after a can rattle and consecutive finals finishes. This year they are around 27k. MFC must ensure any membership growth in $ and numbers is enduring.
DemonDave 1,099 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Great point Rhino. The sole reason the Dorks are leading that ladder is because of the Tassie members option they provide for the 4 or 5 games down there. Similarly our figures are artificially inflated by the MCC memberships on offer.
Hannabal 4 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 It interesting NM had 40+k last year after a can rattle and consecutive finals finishes. This year they are around 27k. It doesn't change your very valid point, but last year North's final membership tally was 34,342.
Je Roos Salem 661 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 29,104. Come on supporters- just 896 to go! To stay in front of St.Kilda would be great. Hawthorn 50,000 members. wow.

At present i don't mind if we get a few "Cheaper" members on board as it all helps to expand the Data Base. The hawks 50,000 looks good. This club must aim for that figure in the Future. The MCG has the room for all to be comfortably seated.
melbournefc18 4 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 If we can reach 33,000 maybe 34,000 our future will look very bright not that it is going in the right direction at the moment

Also their figure is otherwise inflated by what looks like a one off post premiership bandwagon.

Also their figure is otherwise inflated by what looks like a one off post premiership bandwagon. and little expense. didn't they have well over 40,000 last year anyway? so good on them. irrelevant thinking point: we've never won a premiership with more than a few thousand members......
Rhino Richards 1,467 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 and little expense. didn't they have well over 40,000 last year anyway? so good on them. Agree. They had done very well coupled with easy money from the Tassie Govt sponsorship.
Surfa 0 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Cant speak highly enough of stynes contribution to our Membership I loved the mms on the phone urging people to sign up then ringing up and get a player.. great idea
praha 11,271 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Really surprised at the Doggies. My guess is that they'll be the new financial sucker.

Also how many of the members are premium or coterie members? Good questions. Unfortunately, I don't have each of the clubs treasurer's contact numbers ....I'm sure those figures would be published in some form in each of their own yearly reports.
JACKATTACK 17 Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Really surprised at the Doggies. My guess is that they'll be the new financial sucker. Don't worry about the doggies, they will be a powerhouse in 20 years after the development in the west goes ahead. I was out there yesterday having a look at the estates. The mind boggles at the number of people that will live out there in the not too distant future. Second generation migrant families are a massive future market for footy, Demons and the Dogs are in the box seat for a good slice of those.
olgreydingo 51 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 29,199 and still going, Thats better than last year!
