Good to see the MFC building on an existing relationship.

Hopefully the next news is the big one!

That is good news, I hope the major sponsor is sorted out soon as well.

Did anyone get the feeling last night that the club may announce a major sponsor soon, perhaps to coincide with the announcement of our new draftees tomorrow? Or at least soon after the draft?

I understand an announcement is imminent.

We just need the ink to dry on the agreement.

I suspect, we will not hear anything until the New Year though.

That's some pretty wet ink :P

Well.....it's that time of the year, which tends to delay these things. Like the draft, the Christmas break, Chanukah, and.............what is it again?

Oh yes, the global financial crisis. Sorry for the use of a metaphor.

On SEN this morning it was said that the Dogs, Tigers and Dees were about to announce major sponsorship deals. That said, there is little you can rely on that is said on that station, particularly 'prizes' of golf games with one former 'star' who now features on the station.

Kwanza?

Don't think so. I spoke to a Director of the club tonight and he said they were working on a couple of possibles but there was much work to be done.

Now that we have secured Watts at number 1 and a few more promising youngsters surely now we can get a major sponsor on board. The photos yesterday of the Melbourne recruits in their team polo shirts were good until there was an ugly blank bit where the sponor goes.

Does anybody know if we are close to securing a major sponsor because yesterday we got the picks and players we wanted however looked very silly without a sponsor on the shirt of the club.

What exactly am I looking at on that link?

that's what I'd like to know

more deafening silence from the club on this massive issue

that's what I'd like to know

It was a statement about the still in place partnership with Volvo.

instead of having blank space we should have a little 'your ad here' logo to get people thinking about potential exposure. maybe it would look tacky, but it could get the message across...

Could have done that on the boys shirts yesterday ;) :D !!!

Today in the Age Sport section there was a half page advertisement dedicated to announcing the No.1 Draft Choice, also asking the public or 'sponsor' to come on board. The footy guernsey is plain to see minus the sponsor. Good Advertisement I thought at an opportune time for a sponsor to put their hand up!

And what a truly beautiful guernsey it is!

What a great opportunity lost for a sponsor to be blazed all over the TV and press in the last few days. Watts was everywhere and the publicity would have been fantastic for a sponsor.

It is not getting easier to get one. Hopefully we will soon get some good news on this front. The revenue is sorely needed.

This is a huge problem. We've got the (very marketable) no. 1 pick to parade about, yet no company wants to align themselves with us. Meanwhile, Carlton gets another sponsor (Malaysia Tourism). They've got three sponsors I think (Hyundai, Optus, Malaysia).

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
